I still have to do something to the roof but first I have to get the router out to cut a recessed weatherproof hole for the camera.
I looked at a lot of house designs, the shelves on the inside along with the little balcony things should keep the raccoon’s grubby little paws off the next batch of babies.
I hope the squizzles don’t chew through those columns protecting them from the raccoon! I wish they understood what was there for their protection. Need some signage in Squiz or something.
There are a couple protections, they would have to chew through the bars and the inside shelves.
It took them 6 years to destroy that other one.
But now that I know what to watch for I can keep an eye on it.
I got the new one back up today.
I just have to run the camera wire inside the pipe and add a support. I designed the camera mount to be easily removable for maintenance or replacement without needing a ladder or disturbing the tenants.
It’s all sealed up plus the camera is weatherproof.
Maybe next time you can sub the wood bars for bolts? Give it some industrial chic. Then they (and raccoon) would have to chew out the shelves before the protection failed.
You could put up an old-timey sign like @kxkvi 's sign and then add a hanging “No Raccoons” in old-timey script. (Similar to the Vacancy/No Vacancy signs that have hooks and attach the bottom of the bigger sign advertising a motel or an apartment building.)
