News outlets are reporting that NYU Langone is cancelling some appointments for gender-affirming care for transgender children – and that other hospital systems have removed mentions of gender-affirming care from their websites after President Trump issued a related executive order. Caroline Lewis, health care reporter for WNYC/Gothamist, reports on how trans kids and their families are reacting and the New York attorney general’s warning to hospital systems that not providing the care would run afoul of state laws.

As I’ve locked myself out before and I’m thinking of being on the road solo - I’m considering one of these. Good if I go to the beach or for a hike and lose my keys too. I have a hitch on my CR V for the bike carrier.

The lockpicker’s comments about leaving your car keys with the car (in this case, in a lockbox in a trailer hitch) reminded me;
For anyone who carries a purse, or satchel, or any type of bag, keep your house keys and your ID in separate places. If you keep everything in your bag, if it’s stolen, the thief now has your keys and knows where you live. I keep my keys on my person at all times, in a pocket.

My current activity: downloading everything I can from the National labs’ sites. Several datasets are no longer available. I work in the energy sector, so those are the ones I’m noticing. It’s freaking me out. This is all stuff we, as taxpayers, paid to have available to the industry.
It’s crazy. Even standards and guidance docs are gone!

I have one of their solar panels that I take to the cottage. I use it to recharge my phone, my steripen for water purification and a couple of solar lights, if they haven’t charged up enough by the end of the day. I put it out first thing in the morning and let it charge various things until dusk.

so, do you reckon my account that receives my monthly SSDI direct deposit should maintain a base level of funds, and that i transfer those payments to another, not treasury-linked account to keep larger balance in?
how does that affect one’s credit scores and preferred credit lines?
(not asking you specifically, unless you are a financial advisor, and then what would that info cost me?)

I’m definitely not a financial advisor, but in the comments it was recommended that one keep most of one’s money in an account that DOGE hasn’t compromised, transferring as needed. Makes sense, although I suppose there’s a possibility of bank fees increasing, fees on two accounts instead of one, or a fee on an account that’s not holding much balance anymore.
