The RRHOF has its issues, but I’m super happy that Carol Kaye is getting inducted with this class. It’s long overdue.

She is by any no means my cup of tea, but it seems it was a great show that made Bolsonaristas and reactionary rock fans very sad and upset. Some of these radicals and incels were planning to set off bombs at the concert. I don’t know if they were just speaking of empty threats, but the federal police didn’t want to hear anything about it and arrested the terrorists by monitoring services like Discord.
I like that there are bands like Phish and the Grateful Dead that have such passionate fan bases. Both bands’ music does absolutely nothing for me, though. I’ve tried listening to both, and it’s just not for me. My guitar teacher is a huge Dead fan, and he’s perpetually surprised that I just don’t really know any of their songs.
Yeah, I’m not into them either… I appreciate them, their talent, fans, etc, but just… not interesting. Probably haven’t done enough drugs…
I had a copy of Live/Dead for ages, but didn’t really learn to appreciate it until listening to it while suffering from a high fever.
There’s a great documentary on this phenomenon from a few years back:
It goes deep into the history and development of the Compact Cassette tape including some fascinating interviews with the engineer that invented it. It goes deep into the millennial fascination with the format, which of course I don’t get having lived through that era the first time around. But that’s ok, because Henry Rollins tells us why we should care.
It’s good stuff.
We actually have that on blu-ray and have not watched it yet…
