Talkin' about music

Reminds me of stores that always seem to have a “Store Closing Sale” to drum up business.

I didn’t realize it started that early!

A local TV station broadcasted this movie late nite almost 40 years ago. I was tired and didn’t watch it, but everyboody in my classrom did and they were transformed. The boys started to buy used guitars, cuting pipes and bottlenecks to made contraptions to play slide guitar. We were anachronic beatniks.

I legit had the conversation with my partner that a really good double feature would be Crossroads + Sinners. She’s never seen Crossroads, i told her the plot and was interested so need to find time to watch it with her  Crossroads is such an underrated movie and one of my faves.

It took me two years to watch it. The blues fade was gone by then. But my friends still think it is a cool movie and I can’t deny it. I wish I could play guitar, but a pact with the Devil is out of question.

Oh wow, just became aware of this collaboration between the utterly awesome Nova Twins and Nandi Bushell:

Love the Nova Twins.
Love Nandi.
LOVE THIS.

Ry Cooder’s long been one of my favourite guitarists, in no small part thanks to his work on the Crossroads soundtrack.

His studio sessions for the album “Prodigal Son” are fantastic:

That was great, thanks for the vid! There’s so much talent and musicians out there that are obvious and old news to others, but i’m slowly expanding my awareness of classic talents. Recently i listened to an interview of George Benson on Questlove’s podcast, i don’t know Benson but i decided to look up his live performance of his take of “On Broadway” and i can only describe it as joyfully indulgent as he absolutely shreds on his guitar and scats like there’s no tomorrow. It’s amazing.
