Niiiice! Rock (or folk) on
Nice!
Mandolins make me think of Denis Gainty, who was a professor on my dissertation committee who died a week before I defended (just dropped dead of a heart attack, as he had a genetic defect of some kind)…
I love this song he did with his band the Porch Bottom Boys…
He was working on a project about bluegrass in Japan when he passed (as he was a Japanese historian).
He was truly a delightful human being who just lit up any room he was in. RIP, Denis!
Here’s your reminder that Laibach played Sarajevo the day the Dayton Accords were signed and U2 showed up for their massively overbloated tour in 97…
apparently, someone recently did a documentary about it…
Someone took every Dr Johnny Fever radio intro - added the songs - and turned it into a radio show.
An amazing idea.
Their most interesting episode yet.
Also, speaking of ATL Youtubers talking about music, I randomly ran into Rick Beato today. Like, I was out eating with my daughter and my BFF, and I look over and he’s walking into the restaurant. He ended up sitting across from us, so I leaned over to shake his hand, thank him for his channel and wish him luck with the copyright bullshit he’s dealing with.
Now if I can run into Signifier in the wild around town (I should probably go to Dragon*Con next weekend, cause I know he’s gonna be there), I’ll have collected all the parasocial meetings of local youtube celebrities.
Great idea in theory, and I really tried to listen to it, but unfortunately that show, like all the TV sitcoms back then, was plagued with a loud, fake laugh track which completely ruins this.
So it was accurate? And true to the source material?
lol yes, which for me made it unlistenable.
Someone needs to train an “AI” laugh-track remover…
Well, except Pink Floyd of course…
That’s a good whippet.
