Ah, that makes sense then. Carry on!
Ha, I recently came across Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat and was planning on posting. Also I love what this band did with it:
Ok, I loved this video and found a new channel to subscribe to. Thanks for sharing.
I especially loved the bit about just punching in random notes and messing with the dials. That’s my only level of knowledge and experience with the TB-303, and even with an idiot like me at the controls I can still create pretty dope sounds.
That being said, the omission of Shannon’s “Let The Music Play” was practically criminal as its use of the TB-303 + TR-808 sound basically invented the entire freestyle genre long before acid house was a thing.
As an aside, I went to an 80s festival concert last year where Shannon was one of the performers. She sounded absolutely incredible. Definitely the surprise of the day, especially as some of the acts definitely did not impress at all. (Wang Chung in particular was incredibly disappointing.)
I didn’t know that this existed, and now it’s not going to exist any more:
Ahhh bullshit! Another example of an artist not understanding their own work.
Oh he understands it just fine. He just loves Trump, so he’s lying.
Haha whoops this shows sometimes you have to click to see which post a reply is to. I was trying to comprehend, Phil Collins doesn’t understand his own work because he thinks he was a drummer?
(Which I could actually see an argument for, i.e. if one believes in some flavor of we only exist in as much as we are experienced by others, since his biggest popular success was by far as a singer)
58 Jazz Luminaries Assembled for This Photo. Only One Remains.
Art Kane’s “Harlem 1958” gathered giants of the music. Sonny Rollins, 94, looks back at the historic picture.
Well that’s debatable. I’m not sure if you’re being serious or sarcastic, because he’s one of the greatest drummers in rock history.
People should go listen to the Peter Gabriel era of Genesis and listen to Collins playing there… I think far too many people just know him as a pop guy from the 80s, but dude was a seriously great drummer…
Ok, now explain…
Macho Man (it’s about a tough guy and there’s nothing at all homoerotic about it)
In The Navy (we really want our listeners to keep our oceans well defended)
Fire Island (when we’re warning you not to go in the bushes that’s because there’s sharp branches and we never knew gay people went there it’s a total coincidence)
Hot Cop (it was just really hot outside)
Go West (we just like the West Coast and there’s nothing Soviet Anthem about the hook at all it’s just a coincidence)
San Francisco (we had no idea there were so many gay people there and we just like Pier 39).
You Can’t Stop The Music (ok maybe there really isn’t any innuendo here…)
As an aside, I am realizing I know way too many Village People songs.
