Despite being the other half of, “Wham! aka George Michael and that other guy”, Ridgeley has always struck me as a real stand up dude.
Great video as always from him. The Drake vs Kenny beef was definitely a highlight of this year. If nothing else, it cemented Lamar as the undisputed king of hip-hop, and Drake as a mediocre talent that fucked around and found out.
Okay, got it. The obvious thing to do is to bring the Schumann resonance to exactly 8Hz by detonating several thermonuclear devices, say in the 10 Mt range, deep down in the Earth’s crust in the right sequence. That should fix it.
they really are great. i forgot about them. so fun.
An ex friend of mine (I cut loose all the assholes from my life decades ago so now I have no friends) handed ElVez a cheeseburger during a show and he ate it right there on stage and my ex friend was pleased.
did he bring the cheeseburger there with the intent to hand it to him? that’s some great planning.
I saw Paul on the second show of the Got Back tour.
In 2022.
His vocals weren’t what they used to be on some songs (Maybe I’m Amazed in particular was incredibly rough), but nobody really cared because he put on such an incredible show.
He was nearing his 80th birthday at the time, but it didn’t stop him from running around the stage for nearly 3 hours. I was in awe of his stamina. And to think he managed to keep doing that another 2 and a half years straight. That’s just incredible.
Re: do we listen to too much music?
Reminds me of this quote
“In societies with fewer opportunities for amusement, it was also easier to tell a mere wish from a real desire. If, in order to hear some music, a man has to wait for six months and then walk twenty miles, it is easy to tell whether the words, “I should like to hear some music,” mean what they appear to mean, or merely, “At this moment I should like to forget myself.” When all he has to do is press a switch, it is more difficult. He may easily come to believe that wishes can come true.”
-W. H. Auden
Yet again, a school shooter likes KMFDM, and the band gets blame from the media. Clearly nobody blaming them has ever bothered to actually read any of the lyrics. Despite KMFDM’s harsh sound, and the use of violent or provocative imagery and song titles, the music itself is staunchly anti-war, anti-violence, and very much tongue-in-cheek.
“In a culture that is obsessed with guns, people will always try and blame someone or something else for these tragic events, rather than the abundant and easy access to firearms,” KMFDM said.
One of my many shows this year was KMFDM. It was in a dumpy Seattle club and my view was mostly blocked because Sacha and his equipment were literally right in front of me. The sound mix was also pretty bad. It was an awesome show all the same and the crowd was with a massive mosh pit inches away from me.
Excellent! They are one of the loudest bands I’ve ever seen (at least they were back in 1996 or 97 when I last saw them). The only louder band I’ve seen is probably the Swans.
