Don’t think of it as a fallback. Maybe you’re falling forward, or at least sideways?
Are you, perhaps, a fan of one Charles Dickens? If so, I may have some suggestions for things to do during that month.
I’ve mentioned it before, probably in this very thread. I went there for the software, stayed for the community, and created this place in the hopes of preserving some part of that community elsewhere. I go back every once in a while, and even read the comments some times, but I stop short of logging in, no matter how badly I want to post about taxonomy.
A quick, gentle reminder of a couple of things:
- Ken is a member here. I may not agree with all of the decisions he may make over at BB, but I also don’t envy him a much harder job than I have here. Please keep the conversation about the events and decisions rather than the people.
- I’m always interested in what brings people here, but I also don’t want this place to be more about there than here.
I’m not trying to call out anyone specifically (especially @Melizmatic). I know tempers may still be simmering, let’s just keep it cool.
Also, has anyone seen Wonka? It’s surprisingly good‽

I was once known as iknownuurthing, but I’ve dropped that moniker now. I’ve disliked it since Cleese showed his true colours. So now I’m the Dogbutler, which is far more apt for me.

Not really. A couple of people (me being one of them) got put on time out for telling a troll to go eff himself, and initially, the troll was not put on time out, so there was some drama. It seems to be getting resolved, and I’m hopeful it will result in a stronger community there, but I will probably be spending more time here than I had been.
