The Arrivals Lounge

they sound amazing! I like the early Jethro Tull vibes. Will definitely be looking for them afterwork

I saw Riistetyt play at an underground punk joint in the Autumn of '84. There was one guy on The Scene who had a leather jacket w/their name painted on the back, and when we found out they were coming to town, we happily knew how thrilled he musta been! He was naturally at the show, walking around with such an obvious spring in his step tophat-biggrin tophat-beer tophat-cool

@Millie_Fink kindly pointed me in this direction, and I already see there are many familiar avatars flitting about.
I think I shall at the very least stay awhile and listen

Actually something more Finnish. Song about the 15. night of a bender written and sang by a guy who died of kidney failure aged 57.

He also did a English version:

We should move this to a music thread
Listening now to ā€œMilky way mosesā€ album

I didnā€™t think there was anything you could say at this point that would make me like you more, doc, but that did it!

Saw them here in Saskatoon back in 2016 in a 1000 capacity venue and it was amazing!

Iā€™ve been to Finland once (Helsinki) on a cruise as a teen and always wanted to go back and experience it properly.

Closest i get is Stockholm, Sweden (I have family there as my aunt married a Swede), Sweden was beautiful and i was left wanting to do a road trip and experience more of it and Finland.

I did one of those ā€œIf today is monday we are in Romeā€ week-long tour from sweden through finland. It was amazing but I wish I had had more time to spend on each place. I think I spent more time on ferries than sightseeing.

So frickenā€™ jealous right now! That was prior to Marco leaving the band, wasnā€™t it? (That was my favorite iteration of the many over the years.)

That sounds lovely, i would still enjoy being on a ferry but yes spending more time looking at sights and towns is always preferred. I similarly want to do a road trip across Japan and visit towns, seems way more fun than going to Tokyo and the like. Hope to go back to both countries some day.

Donā€™t they have the same origin? I dimly remember a story about how ā€œthat company who makes the phones used to make rubber bootsā€. From context, you can tell it was a while ago.

I would have expected that you would mention Rapala before anything! Way to keep me on my toes.

Iā€™ll add that Remedy makes some of the best video games in the world right now. Iā€™m loving the Finglish in Alan Wake 2. The Koskela brothers remind me a lot of some old timers here in the U.P.

Yep, Marco left during the pandemic. And I totally agree, that was the best lineup, though I have enjoyed every era of the band. I remember one evening during lockdown chowing down on some funky mushrooms and watching the 2013 Wacken performance in its entirety and deciding that Floor was the angel of music lol

My first Florgasm was watching her slay Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Damn, what a voice!

Oh my yes. What a moment that was. Sheā€™s got such an amazing voice.

Ha! I forgot about Rapala, even though they make some of my favorite lure. Iā€™ll allow myself two excuses - 1. I associate Rapala more with Minnesota and Wisconsin than with Finland, and 2. I mostly fly fish these days and havenā€™t purchased a lure in almost a decade. Still, it was an oversight.

Rapala dive plugs are a go-to for wahoo in the deep water humps off Islamorada and Marathon.
