This reminds me of a grad school conversation with a 
and 
friend. The friend and his immediate family could travel back to Iran without a problem, but certain other members of the family had been killed by the Khomeini regime. The friend’s grandfather had fled 
and noted that Stalin’s crowd were much more into wiping out entire families.
But an 84 year-old, very much ex-politician? That’s quite the individual grudge.
Had the RCMP not foiled the plot, it would have expanded the list of assassinated 
politicians by half.

The hackers targeted the phones of Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, as well as people working for the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris and State Department officials.
The networks are still compromised, and booting the hackers out could involve physically replacing “literally thousands and thousands and thousands of pieces of equipment across the country,” specifically outdated routers and switches, Warner said.

When the digital wiretap law was passed in 1994, no one foresaw the kind of sophisticated intrusions apparently developed by the Chinese.
Very well informed people and organizations have been yelling for decades about the problems.
