Los Angeles, California – Governor Gavin Newsom today issued the following statement in response to the federal government’s intent to deploy the California National Guard:
The federal government is moving to take over the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers. That move is purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.
LA authorities are able to access law enforcement assistance at a moment’s notice. We are in close coordination with the city and county, and there is currently no unmet need.
The Guard has been admirably serving LA throughout recovery.
This is the wrong mission and will erode public trust.

I guess I need to go back to links with live feeds, and see if I can glean anything useful. AFAIK we have yet to be in the part of our timeline where live feed video is fed in realtime to AI (whether generative or other) for reprocessing to keep the MAGA-narrative as seamless as possible.

Indeed. As even Gavin “I like to bow and scrap for fascists” Newsome said… Of course, many of us are old enough to remember the LA uprising in 92… I that case it was the governor who called out the National Guard?
I don’t know… probably, but like almost anything, that’s dependent on your view point. And even the most progressive of socities have their flaws, of course. Part of our problem is that we believe that we shouldn’t take influence from the rest of the world, it’s our way or the highway, and that’s… not helpful? We should be willing to look elsewhere for inspiration in making this a better place.
But are things better… in some ways, it is. And that’s largely down to people pushing for that change.
[ETA] and let me say, that just because things have improved, doesn’t mean it can’t get worse. I think we can all agree that the interwar Weimar Germany was likely better than the pre-war imperial Germany… But we know what came next. If we should learn anything from history, it’s that we can’t count on any gains sticking in the face on continued insistence on dragging us all back into a shitty world of hierarchy and oppression. Some people just… don’t want to see the rest of us thrive, but want to know that they are “better” than us…

Hegstreth threatening to call out active duty military on his own authority should see him removed from office.
