The goddamn Trump Administration (Part 2)

But Biden can’t even walk!

And considering that the prosecutor who was supposed to be in charge of the case resigned in protest on the day it was presented to the grand jury, I’m going to go out on a limb and guess there’s no evidence. Like, maybe they had blurry traffic cam images and told the grand jury, see that guy?

He’s this other guy we caught selling drugs.

See that guy?

He’s this other guy we caught selling guns.

Ah. That’s a detail I was unaware of. Yeah, that’s pretty sus. This is all probably theater, then. The case will probably be delayed for all kinds of reasons before being quietly dropped after the media stops covering it.

Don’t get me wrong - if tripping going up stairs is a sign of physical or mental degradation, I’m already a rotting corpse. But if Fox doesn’t put this on the same 5 minute rotation they did with Biden, they should not be legally allowed to use the term “news” to describe their channel. Ever.

@danimagoo in case it’s useful to have a reference for that:

I don’t fall.

I have a rapid unscheduled gravity adherence event.

Kathy, you’re so cool that you don’t fall - the planet just wants to give you a hug!

I’m in DC right now for personal reasons but walked around town to see the sights and my son felt the urge to give a special salute at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

There were a few individual protesters and one or two very small groups but sadly I didn’t see any substantial resistance in evidence today. There was a reasonably large VA group out on the Mall on Thursday, and World Pride events all over town (which had been organized long ago and wasn’t a direct reaction to this administration) but that’s about it. :frowning:

Also they want to, as much as possible, target blue states, so that red state Trump supporters don’t say, “I supported deporting those gang members, but not my local immigrants that I know/rely on!”

I’ve been arguing with people since the first Trump administration who kept saying, “Oh, we have to be really careful with our protests, really have to police what other protesters do, because we can’t do anything that gives Trump/the Republicans any excuses to portray us in a negative light and turn people against us.” And my response has always been, “It doesn’t really matter how well behaved our side is, because the right simply make shit up to fit their narrative.”

And this is the perfect example. A peaceful protest, where the only violence is by the police (including someone hit by an ICE van, which has gone unreported), and where yes, the landscape is on fire, but as a result of being set on fire by police grenades, all turned into a “violent riot.” I’m watching video of a woman simply waving an American flag, standing on a sidewalk a fair distance from the police line, getting tear gas fired at her, and seeing the administration talking about people with Mexican flags committing violence and daring the cops to arrest them. Now the administration is outright saying that simple protest at this point is insurrection. Anything other than total compliance is counted as violent insurrection - the Trump administration isn’t even looking for an excuse for invoking the Insurrection Act or martial law, they’re just going to fabricate one.

That seems like the best case scenario. I’m really afraid of some sort of show trial full of lying witnesses and fake evidence used to create a public impression that everyone sent to the concentration camp actually deserved it. That would be a pretty terrifying precedent.

Yeah, I would not be surprised. :rage:

It’s funny that these protests require escalation by the National Guard but other riots get pardons.

And when you’re a corpse who’s been replaced by a replicant, you won’t be able to walk either!

Now where’s my damn autopen??

Flippin’ A…

It very much sounds like the whole thing started off with unprovoked attacks by ICE on random bystanders, not even protesters…

tricorn tin-foil conspiracy hat sez: one of the features of keeping one’s ICE goons masked is that if need be some of the boys can strip off their masks and assume the role of citizen agent provocateurs to justify more chaos for the cameras (and who knows? eventually getting around to declaring the insurrection act like stephen miller is wetting himself to have done @#$!!)

Next step: simply order them to stand down. If they were deployed illegally, it’s Newsom’s responsibility to issue orders for them to return to base.

And, as predicted, their presence has indeed escalated the situation.

Exactly. Step up, guvner.

Apparently, people in the general area of the protests are ordering rides from Waymos and when they show up at the protest location, people are torching the cars.
