The goddamn Trump Administration (Part 2)

Could be. All four Waymos arrived exactly the same time, so this is could be just one more “we’ll make it until we (or someone else) break(s) it” tech attitude.

That would make sense as it’s better for Waymo, but not for the residents of LA County. “Let’s congest the streets with our products driving around empty all day. That way, people will give up their cars and rely on us!” They see it as a win…until their property gets destroyed and lit on fire. :woman_shrugging:

A lost opportunity on their part. Buy parking lots.

Like McDonald’s understanding that they weren’t in the burger business- they were in the real estate business.

This. If ICE wasn’t already violating the law by illegally kidnapping people, this reaction wouldn’t have happened. ICE doesn’t have the legal or moral high ground. They need to stand down until they’ve demonstrated they are complying with the law and with the Constitution again. Right now, the reasonable assumption is that every ICE abduction is illegal.

Not-so-wild (?) hypothesis: The Waymos detected a lot of people with the Waymo app gathering in one place who were not currently riding, and headed to the protest to look for fares.

They really shouldn’t have the word “qualified” in that sentence. Even the people who left weren’t qualified. They can’t even find unqualified people to work with Whiskey Pete.

Bingo. And the most likely explanation for the fires? ICE has been using flash-bang grenades (!!!) against protesters. Flash-bangs are highly incendiary (not to mention completely inappropriate for this application).

From that Bluesky thread…
WHAT TO DO IF VIOLENCE BREAKS OUT AT A PROTEST
(The poster needs a bigger headline!)

Of course, this may not work as effectively if the ‘violence’ that ‘breaks out’ consists of Trump’s goons and thugs firing tear gas or rubber bullets.

I haven’t personally had my skull smashed in by a violent uniformed thug at a sit down protest but I have seen it happen.
ICE Sturm Abteilung in town? I’m probably going to stay mobile.

I’m worried sitting down may not be a good advice, it could increase risk of getting hit in the eye by rubber bullet.

Video of journalist being shot by rubber bullet.

Cops just firing down the street.

Unfortunately, the news captured random people actually lighting the Waymos on fire after they pummeled it. It was clear that it wasn’t due to flash bangs.

A bit later, some other random people kept trying to damage CHP vehicles left on the 101 by throwing concrete chunks, Lime Scooters, and street signs off the overpass before trying to set fire to them by lighting cardboard and dropping them onto the cars.

To be clear, most of these incidents were not commited by the people from the earlier protests.

False flag. Anyone seen Roger Stone or Enrique Tarrio?

He even sucks at falling up the stairs compared to the previous president. Biden was a pro at falling up the stairs in a truly hilarious way…

I think BLM activists were relatively sure that they planted agitators within the 2020 protests, for exactly this reason… Let’s not forget the same thing possibly happening during the 1999 Seattle protests, too. Hell, we know that there was WELL documented infiltration of the Panthers… I wonder about the post-Stonewall movement, too.

In the film shot by her cameraperson you can see a cop deliberately take aim, at a reasonably short range.

seems likely that the ICE goons will be spread a bit thin on June-14th. how many blue states’ national guards will the trumpies attempt to call up?

(whhhy even this ugly old lump will be carrying a gormless sign on June 14th)

updated link to the no-kings site on the issue of national guard call up.
