The goddamn Trump Administration (Part 2)

This one petty, crass, vulgar, spiteful, vindictive, ignorant act alone pretty much tells any decent person everything they need to know about Trump’s character and values. Not that we don’t already know, of course.

Sounds like the military, at least those stationed at Bragg, are ready and eager to commit whatever massacre Dear Leader wishes against their fellow Americans. I wish I was surprised.

They had to hand-pick those troops to achieve that result. And I bet there were still some of the crowd who walked away from that “speech” smiling for their peers but scared shitless about the crazy orange man.

I don’t know if this video will be viewable here, but if not, it shows Omaha police kneeling in support of protesters.

In addition, the Omaha PD posted this statement which, taken in combination with the video, would seem to indicate that they are not fully on board with ICE.

hell i’m going to presume that this crew will amount to identifying the worst of the worst anti-science villains. always hope that someone is indelibly writing down for posterity anyone in willing proximity to the trump administration. because if we survive this, we can certainly do worse than to shun these people from any position of authority forevermore. (“You were associated with RFKjr’s team during the trump administration, that means you’re a dangerous charlatan, be gone traitor to humanity!”) and yes, i’m tripping on optimism here. @#$!

As such, I expect they will get their asses sued off if they actually push anti vaccine policy. If this chucklehead becomes the norm on ACIP, it’s not like they are going to be just sitting around unchallenged. It’s going to be WAY too hot in the kitchen for these idiots. I expect they will burn out or bow out pretty quickly once pressure is applied.

It’s the kind of thing we are seeing across most government agencies right not in real time. The cabinet political appointee gets grilled in congressional hearings and some have already perjured themselves (like RFK jr). it remains to be seen if there are any consequences for them. But as you move below that level, there are actual legal consequences for being incompetent or malevolent. These are disposable dupes for RFK jr to push his agenda, and it’s likely they will will be burned and replaced frequently until it is really clear how toxic that position is (like Pete Hesgeth’s staff, which they now cannot fill).

Children cry when they get shots, therefore NO SHOTS EVER AGAIN. Also no vegetables, school, bathing or saying “no” to them for any reason.

ETA: Oh, I just described how to make more adults like Donald Trump, didn’t I?

I guess all I can say to everyone is, sorry?

I only post items here that make me say “goddamn Trump administration.” I save the positive political stories for And Now for Some Good News.

I for one find that a reasonable interpretation of the thread’s title.

JD Vance Defends Confederate Soldiers, Internet Reacts

The Confederacy fought to preserve slavery in the Civil War

On a recent episode of This Past Weekend with Theo Von, JD Vance defended those who fought for the Confederacy, saying:

““I feel like something happened like 10 years ago where every, it’s like you have to think that every single person that who fought for the Confederate side was an evil person. I just think that’s so stupid.”

When a reporter asked if he had seen Les Mis before (he said of course) and then asked whether he identified with Valjean or Javert, he had an answer like, “oh I don’t know that’s a hard one”. If you can’t answer that basic question, you clearly had never seen Les Mis.

Never mind the bitter irony of the whole damn scenario.

Oh, I think he “saw” it, but he probably slept through most of it. Also, he just likes the music in the parts of the show in which he was awake—he simply didn’t understand the lyrics.

I imagine he has no clue, but maybe it would be hard for him. Both are in their own way trying to do what is right by other people, even if one is terribly mistaken about what that is. I maintain that the only character he could identify with at all is Thénardier, the crooked innkeeper, and even there you have to ignore that he’s willing to get his own hands dirty.
