Newsom needs to direct the California Highway Patrol to arrest Noem for insurrection against government of the State of California.
“We’re not going away,” Noem said just before the disruption. “We are going to liberate the city from the burdensome leadership, mayor and governor.”

So there had been some speculation that Trump’s prison deal with Bukele was secret because Bukele had done deals with MS-13, and the whole thing was theater, and Trump was going along with it. It really does look like that’s the case. Trump put together an MS-13 task force during his first administration, and even then they were realizing Bukele was in league with MS-13 for political advantage, a relationship they further detailed in the years since. There’s no way Trump doesn’t know, however much he likes ignoring reality - and he’s very much going along with this theater. Heck, he’s even actually aiding MS-13 directly (e.g. sending gang leaders back to El Salvador so they don’t testify about the organization and its government ties). It’s layers of corruption so that two presidents can pretend that they’re tough on MS-13, but who are actually doing nothing in reality, because they don’t actually care.
