The goddamn Trump Administration (Part 2)

I’m guessing that last picture is pure AI slop (or at least manipulated).

it IS fucking AI. that is not how alligator would congregate, nor crocs. it appears like some AI prompt asked for crocodillians swarming like sharks.
also, i do not believe that is what the actual compound looks like. the concentration camp - yes, i do believe that is exctly what this is - in the Everglades, on sacred Mickosukee and Seminole land, does not look like that. as far as i know, as far as what i have seen, what has been reported here, locally, is it is only the airstrip that was used by Miami-Dade County first responders for training.
that “mote” is a creation of a fascist AI dream.
it does not exist.

As you are a learned denizen of Florida, I trust your analysis here.

I was basing my judgement more simply on how this:

Which appears to be a real aerial shot from a drone (and is consistent with other videos/images I’ve seen) looks nothing at all like this fantastical “My First Concentration Camp Construction Set” fever dream:

That image looks like someone said “make me a mash-up of Area 51, the Florida Everglades, and Guantanmo Bay”.

and i believe you are correct.
i have been in the Big Cypress Wilderness, i have been deep into the Big Cypress. obviously, i would not have been in, nor near this installation, but i can confidently say that the idea that it is “far from civilization” is only partially true. the closest Mickosukee village is less than half a mile from there.
the whole idea of this “impossible-to-escape” prison camp is merely another unrealistic “made for reality teevee” construct to feed the MAGAt base their daily bloody meat.
may i also point out that “running zigzag” will escape alligator… no, just no.
leave the lizziegators alone. don’t encroach her nest, don’t try to approach and never cock-block a horny male 'gator in mating season.
that’s all I have to say about that.

You’re probably right.

Being in Toronto, I am thankfully unfamiliar with either.

Duh; I should have realised.

Every GOP candidate, especially outside of NY, is going to exclaim their Democratic opponent is a Zohran supporter.

My hope is this backfires on them, but I’ve lost all faith in the electorate not to succumb to this hateful completely fabricated garbage.

Apparently, Fox News was showing this to try to scare its viewers:

I dunno, the “socialist model” looks pretty great to me.

Welp, with the payout DHS/ICE/CPB just got in the big bullshit bill I can definitely see them turning it into a detention center. Surprised they’re not going to do the same to Angel Island, which was an actual immigration detention center.

Auschwitz On the Bay

(ETA: luckily Angel Island is state-owned land, whereas Alcatraz is still federally owned.)

Republicans are building a concentration camp in the Everglades, with plans to build more in other states.
They are “deputizing” militia lunatics and sending them out to terrorize our communities.
They just gave ICE a bigger budget than the USMC. FORTY BILLION DOLLARS.
They keep talking about deporting people who are American citizens, people who have done nothing wrong, who have broken no laws. In some cases, they’ve already done that. They’ve talked about suspending habeas corpus and declaring martial law.
They are telling us, in word and in deed, that they are turning their rage and violence directly onto American citizens. RIght now, they are laser focused on terrorizing immigrant communities, but this will not stop with the communities they are terrorizing right now. They are going to go after journalists, professors, influencers who don’t fall into line, and more.
They are building a police state, in plain sight, and they are telling us exactly what they are going to do when they are done.

We know, Wil. It’s time for action. I guess I’ll… attend a protest? Write a letter to my congressman? Vote in an election that may or may not happen in the future? Surely this time those things will work.

I shouldn’t pick on Wheaton. All he’s guilty of is not having a solution, same as everyone. I’m just so tired of hearing the warning, again and again and again, justifiably more frantic every time, and having to watch as it just gets worse and worse with no bottom in sight and no power to stop these monsters.

(excerpt) [Trump] will always and obsessively be preoccupied with getting his own childish needs met, and at the top of that list is avoiding discomfort and complexity.

Like the bully he is, when he’s seriously confronted — at least so far — he’ll back down (TACO) if the confrontation threatens to consume lots of his time, trouble, or money. This is why consistent and ferocious opposition to his most puerile actions is absolutely necessary.
