The goddamn Trump Administration (Part 2)

He IS a brain parasite.

Yes, but none of those people invented the word, since it goes back to 1600 or so. And who’s to say it wasn’t Trump who made it up then? That’s when people started talking about groceries, and RFK would have actually sounded like someone who was ahead of the curve on medicine, so it would fit.

The media fucking sucks.

(Yes, I purposely chose the remake of The Equalizer. He does seem to have a particular problem with Black women.)

ETA: I’d like to claim that great minds think alike. Here’s your bubbly beverage, @Melizmatic!

No doubt. Doesn’t make it any less frustrating, this just printing whatever those in power say and then calling that copying journalism. And far too many people just… believe shit, because ā€œhey, it must be true, I saw it on the internetsā€¦ā€ :rage:

Honestly, you could say that about anything Trump does and just statistically you’d most likely be right. It’s always true of his trade ā€œdealsā€ because his opening moves were such complete idiocy that nothing done subsequently can recover from that, even if he were competent (which he obviously isn’t) and hadn’t put the US in an incredibly weak position for trade negotiations (which he obviously did).

I just can’t get over this:

Once again, a highly qualified Black person/woman gets fired and replaced by a white guy who isn’t qualified at all. Once was enough to make the racism apparent, but doing it over and over again…

That’s what astounds me as to how it’s the same playbook every time.

  1. Start ā€œasking questionsā€ about doing Y
  2. Angrily accuse X of Z (usually something he considers ā€œunfairā€)
  3. Bully X by taking hasty and ill-conceived (and probably illegal) scorched earth action against X that ultimately hurts both parties
  4. His sycophantic army defends it as ā€œnegotiating tacticsā€ and ā€œart of the dealā€ without ever being able to clearly explain what he’s ā€œnegotiatingā€, why, or how it really helps anybody.
  5. X makes an agreement with Trump (usually no better or even worse than the original status quo), OR does nothing at all and Trump relents if it gets too unpopular among his donor class
  6. Trump loudly claims victory and his sycophantic army lauds him as a genius
  7. Go back to 1

Every damn time.

His mafia style of negotiating through bullying may work fine for him in some business contexts, but it doesn’t work at all for diplomacy. Who wants to negotiate with a bully that’s very publicly saying how much you suck? That’s not how it has ever worked.

Even as a donation to the government, though, it would require Congressional approval. I think I said this in another thread, but even the gift of the Statue of Liberty had to be approved by Congress. Large value gifts rarely come with no strings attached…

Thanks, I am aware.

I used well known fictional iterations to make my point, since Pumpkin Spice Pol Pot seems to think tv shows and movies are real…

Thanks, Liz!

You’re absolutely right, but I’m also curious to know if there’s a single conservative or Trumpy person in the country who is qualified for the job. I don’t imagine that a Masters degree in Library Science is an attractive prospect for many Trump supporters.

I’m setting up a lot of new hotspots for our library today. The default ā€˜test page’ when you connect to one is MSN and the headlines I keep seeing pop up make me want to scream and throw things. The words are technically correct, but your description is spot on here.

There are so many times I have to parse through a trump quote carefully just to tease out something resembling a coherent thought. The next step of trying to understand how he thinks something works (like the pharma pricing) is even more painful.

An expert on the Library of Congress tells Rolling Stone that Trump’s takeover attempt is ā€œdangerous,ā€ given that the Library’s sub-agencies provide confidential legal advice to members of Congress and help police misconduct by lawmakers.

He’s not saying immigrant gang members anymore, now it’s all criminals.

Let’s compromise. We can send One (1) 34x convicted felon to el salvador and leave him there.
