The goddamn Trump Administration (Part 2)

Because ChatGPT can’t generate documents that long. (And no one in this administration is competent enough to fake it, even unconvincingly, without its help.)

His security lapses involve allowing large numbers of basically random, unvetted people into spaces he frequently occupies and does official business in (e.g. his club), where they could easily plant bugs, and being surrounded by insecure communications devices (that could easily be broken into by state actors), hiring staff who are themselves compromised (illegally working with foreign governments), etc. They’re all entry points that spooks can use to engage in surveillance.

Probably not, but someone does (even leaving aside Russia, which obviously has incriminating recordings). I’m sure US allies have significant documentation about all the shit he’s up to (which, sadly, they will never share with us).

Given how many of Trump’s tariff documents either use purely imaginary complaints as justification or are presented entirely unjustified, this could simply be a flailing attempt to find something that exists in the real world to justify tariff action, even if it doesn’t match up with any real US interest. (Like his claims that sales taxes in other countries are tariffs.)

Exclusive: US considered charging Minnesota judges, lawyers in immigration crackdown, sources say

In February, FBI agents in Minneapolis opened a preliminary inquiry into whether local judges and defense attorneys obstructed immigration enforcement by requesting virtual hearings, and the concept was also pitched to law enforcement officials in Minneapolis and Washington, D.C., said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal Justice Department deliberations.

Reuters could not determine whether the probe is ongoing. To date, no judge or lawyer in Minnesota has been charged over the episode.

The Minneapolis probe followed comments made in an email chat maintained by Minnesota defense lawyers on February 6 discussing requesting virtual court hearings for defendants who were living in the U.S. illegally to reduce the risk that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers would apprehend them at court, the five people told Reuters.

I might go with, “Sorry, I’m not one of ‘the Black People who love you’.”

Yes, that is the actual gesture I would make while saying that. :smiling_imp:

What concerns me is that (as read in another article, who I can’t remember how posted it, but…) it’s gone from Fox News as a story, while this is being covered by “mainstream” media (CNN, etc). So… I want this to have legs, but what if it’s yet another hopeful “we got him” but… all the MAGAts just, come on back to the fold, because a cult us a hell of a drug…?

It is like a Christmas morning miracle. Mr. Trump and Mr. Bolsonaro ignite the fire of patriotism and made the society go together.

I’m also hoping this snowballs on :tangerine: . Still, your point is illustrated in this clip from The Daily Show (around the 1:50 mark)…

But let’s hear some more about how cognitively impaired Biden was!

(To be fair, Trump may not have forgotten he appointed Powell. He may not even have been aware he appointed him at the time. Or he’s so disconnected from the idea of a consistent, objective reality, and he feels free to make whatever claims are most beneficial to him in the given moment, and it never occurs to him that other people are aware of it.)
