The goddamn Trump Administration (Part 2)

That very thing happened to an Irish politician who sued the Sunday Times.

I laughed hard.

The confirmation of the discovery of the heaviest black hole ever detected comes as the Trump administration’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2026 calls for closing either the Louisiana or Hanford LIGO. It is part of a 57% cut proposed by the administration for the National Science Foundation. The proposal has been given to Congress, which is working to set budgets for the National Science Foundation and its projects.

In order to confirm that the detection was from gravitational waves from space and not something on Earth, data from two or more sources was needed, in this case the Hanford and the Livingston, La., LIGOs, said Michael Landry, head of the LIGO Hanford Observatory.

Interesting. How is Brazil restricting the free speech of ‘murkens?

Every other day, he’s being interviewed by friendly media outlets. Last month, he organized a protest in the country’s largest city; almost no one came to support him, and he gave up on embarrassing himself. His brilliant and intelligent children say whatever they want on social media. If it were a dictatorship, like the one they usually defend, they’d be being tortured by now and would eventually disappear.

This is one of Mr. Eduardo Bolsonaro’s most ardent supporters. He believes it’s worth destroying everything in the country just to save a few scoundrels.

Measures are being discussed in court to try to bring so-called big tech companies under Brazilian law. X and Rumble, for example, were blocked in the country some time ago for spreading misinformation and not having legal representatives, much less an office in the country. Some people have discovered that the US Constitution is limited to the 50 states, while the rest of the world has its own rules and is obligated to comply with local law. They say that European laws are much harsher than those applicable in Brazil.

We have fredom of speech, but on the other hand, we have laws against discrimination, racism etc. The KKK and Proud Boys wouldn´t be tolerated here.

The whole problem was that they allowed the far right to appropriate the issue of freedom of expression. Today, they consider themselves a minority being persecuted by the Establishment, a cabal of gay communists, who cannot let them spread their conspiracy theories.

Cases like this one give me flashbacks to the first term of :tangerine: . Members of that administration shrugged off complaints about the incompetent and cruel manner in which children were separated from their parents without making enough of an effort to reunite them.

It’s no shock to learn they don’t bother to keep accurate records about who has been abducted, arrested, or detained. For those who were deported, they lie about where they were sent. Next will come denials that they detained people who are missing, along with excuses why they cannot produce the bodies of those who die in their custody.

Looks like Gabs is trying to get back into Trump’s good graces after daring to contradict him on Iran…

She said Obama and senior officials in his administration had “[laid] the groundwork for … a years-long coup” against Trump after his victory over Hillary Clinton by “manufacturing intelligence” to suggest that Russia had tried to influence the election. That included using a dossier prepared by a British intelligence analyst, Christopher Steele, that they knew to be unreliable, Gabbard claimed.

Jesus Christ.

in my feckless opinion they buried the lede; which is the massive nature of this trump demand that the FBI scrub out any mention of him:

Durbin said his office had learned that after that, the “FBI was pressured to put approximately 1,000 personnel in its Information Management Division … on 24-hour shifts to review approximately 100,000 Epstein-related records in order to produce more documents that could then be released on an arbitrarily short deadline.”

1000 FBI employees on 24-hour shifts to go over 100,000 records … all to hide from the public all the (likely massive) connections between Epstein and trump. @#$!!! (i $%^! hope they all are motivated to become whistleblowers and leakers for being so abused)

This is what he does with everything. Then the actual amounts, which are still outrageous seem more “normal”. $10 BILLION ends up $10-100 million. 300% tariff ends up 30% which is still fucking massive.

From Wikipedia:

“ Multiple lawsuits have been filed in connection with the Steele dossier, primarily involving defamation claims by plaintiffs such as Aleksej Gubarev, the three owners of Alfa-Bank (Mikhail Fridman, Petr Aven, and German Khan), Michael Cohen, Devin Nunes, Giorgi Rtskhiladze, Carter Page, and Trump. They have been filed against Christopher Steele, Orbis Business Intelligence, BuzzFeed, Oath, the Democratic National Committee, and others. All of these defamation cases, except one, were dismissed or withdrawn by the plaintiffs.

Carter Page unsuccessfully sought damages in a lawsuit against the United States Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and several former U.S. government officials, alleging violations of his constitutional rights. Trump also filed unsuccessful lawsuits against Hillary Clinton, Steele, Orbis, and others.”

I guess it was all true!
