I’d put down a dystopian nickel that the covert cuts to Medicare, even more than cuts to Medicaid, will not allow it through the Senate and this bill will therefore ping-pong in a dazzling array of nauseating forms for a year or so to come. Want some real fake optimism? if most of that blather is true, it’ll be a decisive, presumably pro Democratic party, issue in the midterms.

I’d agree that this will probably pass the House but not the Senate. @anotheroldbbaccount it is unconstitutional, as Congress can’t cede the constitutional power of the courts, but if it passes as legislation, it is much more difficult for the courts to assert their power.

That’s absolutely horrible but also 100% consistent with what Vance was saying publicly before he was even selected as the VP candidate. Stating his willingness to ignore the rule of law is probably the single biggest reason why Trump chose him for the VP slot in the first place.

The whole reason why the original two replacement planes are so delayed is because Trump demanded that Boeing retrofit already-built 747s rather than build to spec (which would have been marginally more expensive, but less of a logistical nightmare).
So he wants to solve this problem – that he created – by doing the same thing to another 747 but this time make it even worse because it’s also one that’s 13 years old and coming from a foreign government?
Vance is a fucking Yale Law graduate. Of course he fucking knows this is completely wrong. He just doesn’t care.
Never mind that the 600 MHz spectrum that he is breathlessly touting (which I’m sure he doesn’t actually understand) travels further and penetrates walls better than the GHz bands widely used by 5G devices.

I remember the 5G rollout coinciding with the start of Covid, and the wacky theories floating around about that.
My favourite response was (quoting from memory): “5G installer here. Everyone needs to know: you can relax. All the 5G antennas have had their factory settings changed from ‘give everyone Covid’ back to the default ‘make everyone gay’”.
