Here’s hoping that Madge gets long COVID.

Severely.

As has been pointed out elsewhere: From. A. Cemetery.

Sartre applies, again. “The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert.”

He said that the difference is that ICE wear masks, but that’s not entirely fair.

The Gestapo were also much better dressed.

Christ, what an asshole!

(Or should that now be ‘Tooth Fairy, what an asshole!’?)

Difference: the GeStaPo always showed their badges.

If I were to nitpick, I’d argue the “no government oversight” point.
For one thing, both do exactly what their government wants, so there is little need for oversight in the first place.
Another argument (and difference) is that a lot of all the shit the GeStaPo did was legal because the first thing the Nazis did was write their own laws. And purge the legal system from actual and potential dissidents.

Well duh, why would they inform an enemy?

Putting aside the fact that he is a literal Russian asset, his staff can’t even inform his demented jelly brain that the Internet page he looked at about white genocide wasn’t real, or that tattoos warp with the curve of the skin they are on.

MAGA killed the US.

They need to apologize and start feeding him false information and see how long it takes Russia to act on it.

They may have already done that, which is why they know not to keep us in the loop.

Fair point.

I was thinking more along the lines of publicly afterwards “look at these idiots”

Well, what else were they to do? She had the absolute cheek to ask if they had a warrant when they were trying to force their way in to look for “rioters” (i.e. protesters)! They had to arrest her for questioning their authority! (/s*)

*The “s” is also for the rage stroke I’m having over this shit.

Yeah, though with MAGA, I feel like Sartre’s quote understates things just a bit.

The thing is, I’ve gotten used to bad faith statements from Republicans that the media feel like they have to present as good faith (not taking Sartre’s quote to heart), and I’ve gotten used to Trump’s deranged ramblings being sane-washed by selective quotations and even wholesale replacing of his speech with the interpretations the oracles in the media think he’s trying to express, but this is something else.

She was very clearly being sarcastic. She was very clearly intending to be read as sarcastic as a big “fuck you” to everyone who cared about the issue. Yet some media still described it as “an apology” rather than “a sarcastic ‘apology’” which is what it was - the opposite of what they claimed, and they even went so far as to selectively quote her to hide the fact. That’s not reporting, that’s someone in the media feeling like she screwed up and actively doing PR work on her behalf to fix her self-inflicted disaster.

Sure - there is no MAGA Hugo Boss. I keep thinking about how “AI” is the ruling aesthetic of MAGA, because there are no (competent) artists or designers on their side, despite the fact that even the Nazis managed that.

(Though I do look forward to seeing what outfits AI comes up with for them - I imagine it’ll basically just be remixed Nazi uniforms.)
