Those cold, dead eyes.
some protests here and there, i really hope when more of the fallout from the orange-menace’s actions accumulate we see some proper organized outrage
Downtown Los Angeles Shut Down By Protests
Sunday, February 02, 2025 at 3:30:54p PST
Are you guys seeing this??? I didn’t see it posted anywhere on Kos.
Thousands of protesters took over the 101 Freeway in Downtown LA to protest Twitler’s immigration policies…
A friend of a friend has a live feed going: www.youtube.com/…
It’s starting, folks… Let’s support our fellow Americans, shall we?
While it’s true that no one voted for him, he absolutely does have a position in an official agency of the US Government. He is the leader of the Department of Government Efficiency, which is a department in the United States DOGE Service, formerly known as the United States Digital Service. What started off as an advisory board was back doored into an actual government agency by Trump renaming what had been a fairly minor executive branch service started by President Obama.
Now, is any of that legal? I don’t think so. It certainly shouldn’t be. Executive branch agencies are created by Acts of Congress, which define the scope and authority of those agencies. Without a new act, an agency can’t just on its own decide to take over managing most of government, which is what DOGE has done. Sadly, unless a bunch of Congressional Republicans wake up and realize what’s going on, there’s really not anyone else who can stop this.
We really are living in a de facto dictatorship right now, and I still don’t think most people have realized it yet. Trump is governing by EO, and Elon Musk controls the Treasury. Congress isn’t doing anything, as far as I can tell. There are some lawsuits getting filed, and a couple of injunctions have been issued, but right now, Donald Trump and Elon Musk are running the government with no oversight.
Sean Duffy on Fox News Sunday suggests that “changing names from ‘cockpit’ to flightdeck’” undermined safety at the FAA
And there’s the rub, say the courts shut all this shit down, who’s going to enforce that? Trump simply will direct them to ignore the law like he did with the whole TikTok thing and anybody who pushes back will be fired. What’s Congress going to do about it? Nothing.
I’ve basically abandoned any hope at this point for things getting better any time soon.
No offense to you, but takes like this make me angry.
That fan is absolutely going to get covered in piss.
It is true that tariffs will get paid by American consumers and will this hurt them, but this will also reduce trade for Canadian companies. Thousands will lose their jobs and Canada is projected to go into a recession for two years straight. All through no fault of their own. And the same is true for Mexico, China and eventually the EU. It’s a symptom of American exceptionalism and myopia to me that even those* that condemn an unprovoked attack on an ally can only see what it means for them. For their side in the internal conflict, for American workers and voters. Not for the workers and voters in foreign countries. They’re the extras. Even in this cartoon, which is cheering for them, it’s only because they provide ammunition in what is perceived as an internal US fight.
*again: talking about the cartoonist here, not you
I think Trudeau looks disgusted with merkin von bankrupt, and is trying like heaven to hide it.
“May”?
He does, plus a lot more.
I am aware of that. Kinda my point.
I love (hate) that the only thing standing between these fascists and the end of democracy is their incompetence. Come on Democrats, WTF?? Still trying to sort out how to keep your bread buttered?
I HAVE LOST ALL FAITH
Oh come now, I’m sure someone amidst the party’s leadership will issue a strongly worded statement up their sleeve any day now…
He’s moving the goal posts.
Also, when talking about the Fentanyl problem why is there never any talk about the people using it and getting them help?
Because he can get some performative concessions that won’t mean anything but will allow him to say that he won.
Canada agreed to put more people on the border crossings!
