All who resigned had previously held senior roles at tech companies like Google and Amazon.

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 20 civil service employees resigned Tuesday from billionaire Trump adviser Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, saying they were refusing to use their technical expertise to “dismantle critical public services.” …
chaos, failure, negative reports abound, lawsuits, … and yet no real sign of musk wandering away yet? (“certainly not while there’re still venues to ketamine/chainsaw/sieg-heil”)
-sigh-
I’ve taken some grim delight in imagining a call to Mosk from Tramp.
Waddaya mean ‘DOGE’s work is done’! You can’t just walk away from the mess you made. What are you, bored or something? Look at what DOGE did to my poll numbers!
tis oft-quoted that DOGE has already cut [dr evil pinkie] “$6 Billion dollars” from the government budget. That’s over the top by almost an order of magnitude. And whither did the $600 million get cut? Almost entirely critical research programs. @#$!!

On Friday, The Wall Street Journal published a detailed look at what Elon Musk and his DOGE bags have sliced from federal spending. As might be expected from a Rubert Murdoch propaganda outlet, the results were couched under the title “DOGE Claims It Has Saved Billions. See Where.” However, no massaging of the headlines could make the truth of these cuts look good.
As the article admits, the numbers are nowhere near as large as Musk and Donald Trump have claimed and only a tiny fraction of what has been cut is related to the DEI programs that the right has been railing against.
In fact, the biggest target for Musk’s cuts can be summed up in a single word: Research.
Musk and the enhanced scrotum crew have cut funding for research on early childhood development, chronic lung disease, and a drug to treat Alzheimer’s and traumatic brain injury. In some cases, they’ve cut studies that were in their final stages and were only waiting for results to be evaluated.
While the $6 billion in cuts claimed by Musk is not at all real, what’s very real is the assault on basic science:
$109.7 million reduction in spending on biotech research
$102.5 million reduction in life sciences
$86.8 million cut from social sciences
$171.7 million on lab services, consulting, and support.
On top of all that, the edicts from Musk’s team halted studies that have already been paid for, resulting in no savings. Zero savings—incalculable damage. …
if i were allowed to growl one remark at every trump voter it would be: do you know how far you’ve set back critical medical research which would’ve improved the lives of your children!?
Red flags also included words like “gender,” “ethnicity,” and “sexuality,” along with scores of associated terms — “female,” “women,” “interracial,” “heterosexual,” “LGBTQ,” as well as “Black,” “White,” “Hispanic,” or “Indigenous” when referring to groups of people. “Status” also made the list along with words such as “biased,” “disability,” “minority,” and “socioeconomic.”
In addition, the committee flagged “environmental justice” and terms that they placed in that category such as “climate change,” “climate research,” and “clean energy.”
If this was my building (we’re not a federal building nor do we accept federal funding, so very little chance of it) I have a feeling that those of us in the IT department wouldn’t be able to turn it off either. I’m quite certain that it would be heavily encrypted somehow and that we would be completely locked out of the system, but don’t worry, we’re giving it the priority it deserves! (In other words, I’m sure it’ll be fixed by EOD on Friday. Which Friday? Good question.)
They seem to have something in common, can’t qwhite work out what it is…
It’s pretty disheartening (understatement) to see how everyone is trying to curry favor with the Trump administration by just openly embracing white supremacy.
If they’re saying it’s a woman, look for this whole thing to fall apart, since that seems to be corporate America’s primary strategy when something is in decline - hand it off to a woman or POC…
He just posted his accomplishments to date, this was first on the list.
Has anyone experienced price relief?
SIGNED AN EXECUTIVE ORDER ON DAY 1 ORDERING ALL EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES TO “DELIVER EMERGENCY PRICE RELIEF … TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND INCREASE THE PROSPERITY OF THE AMERICAN WORKER.”
“Wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card,” he continued. They’ll be wealthy and they’ll be successful and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people. And we think it’s going to be extremely successful and never been done before.”
He added it is possible Russian oligarchs could qualify for the gold cards.
