The goddamn Trump Administration

The other important thing about credit unions is no private equity. Which is one reason they’re so much more stable.

I recommend that they make it Self-Driving Flying so Trump can fly in it himself with his cabinet and other MAGAt officials. Should be a piece of cake for a super genius like Leon!

This is so horrible! They were released with the understanding that they would be back in Romania for any hearings. I’m calling it now: they will never return and if Romania asks the US for them, they will be not only be denied but verbally abused by the Trump administration.

I can’t imagine what went on behind the scenes that prosecutors were pressured to even allow this in the first place.

Despite what many believe about it, Romania is a modern EU country. I don’t think corruption played a role here. More likely political pressure using US security guarantees as leverage

I can. Dump most likely told the Romanians that he would have zero issues if Putin were to invade. “Nice country you got there, it would be a shame if Putin would go all Ukraine over it.” Implied threat and the Romanians caved. :rage:

Oh, it doesn’t have to be corruption but more along the lines of Trump promising stuff and/or cash.

“Nice little country you’ve got there …”

Don’t let the first paragraph fool you.

This oppression and discrimination against white men must stop!!

Man, I can’t even continue that. I guess it could be funny, but right now it is just rage inducing.

Reading the article, I find I do have a barely measurable amount of sympathy. She’s young, has grown up in a tiny isolated area surrounded by, well, things like this:

Her family always said the women who accused the president of sexual assault had either made it up or deserved it. [emphasis added - EM] Cooper heard them and kept her own experience a secret, thinking that they might feel the same way about her.

I do get that it can be difficult to break out of that mindset, especially when you’re immersed in it. That’s just the nature of being in a cult. Still, she did know about the promises of fascism, but chose to ignore all that and believe the lie of “free IVF.”

So at the end of the day? You voted for this, Cooper. That tiny amount of sympathy I found lurking at the bottom of my cup of fucks to give about people like you has mostly evaporated.

Well sure, but you have to have 13 jars and they have to be rusty. You should probably make friends with the local alligators, too.

Ugh, this sort of thing happened with a friend of a friend… she wasn’t a Trumper, per se, but she voted for Jill Stein here in GA, and was not concerned about everything DOGE was doing until she got that email on Saturday… all of a sudden, it was a fucking crisis. Like, it’s happening to others, “oh well, it’ll be fine” and then it happened to her (a few months shy of her retirement) and it finally mattered…

Lavine said other realtors are experiencing the same surge of Canadians selling off their Arizona properties because they are fed up with Trump.
“In all my 27 years as a realtor, I’ve never really experienced this before,” said Lavine, who sold real estate in Alberta before moving to Arizona.

That’s going to bring down house prices a bit in the sunshine states. Dropping house prices, when a house is the main store of wealth for many people, is a double edged sword at best.

I was listening to various news channels this morning on the way to a job.

There were a few republican representatives being interviewed about the cuts, they acknowledged there would be some pain but it was necessary.

Not a single reporter or host asked them if they’d be willing to share some of the pain by taking a significant pay cut or feel the same pain by raising their health insurance premiums and deductibles or get rid of half their staff, something.

Someone should start hammering on them that if cuts need to be made their pay should be at the top of the list.

This is probably the case, but in light of the trouble Putin is having in Ukraine, a threat to invade doesn’t hold the same punch as it once did. Putin’s worn out troops and North Korean “mercenaries” would have a tough time against a new, fresh army looking for payback for the suffering they experienced during the time of the Warsaw Pact.

Speaking as a home owner, I really don’t care if the value of our home drops. It’s a home, not an investment property. We did not buy a house for flipping, we bought one so we could live in it. In any case, that’s going to affect homes like ours a lot less than those held by corporations, AB&Bs, and McMansion types. Oddly enough, I really don’t care about those one wit.

Yeah, there’s no way we’re ever going to solve our acute housing crisis if policymakers worry too much about fallout from dropping home prices. Lower home prices should absolutely be considered to be a good thing and as a country we need to get away from the mindset that they should be thought of as a person’s primary retirement savings or whatever.

Besides, you’d think we all would have learned the lesson that house prices can’t (and shouldn’t) go up forever after the 2008 financial crisis.
