Of course, reporting that the king does not like is illegal.
It’s bound to come. He has all but announced it already. Any protest he doesn’t like, any fact or opinion he doesn’t like, any reporting he doesn’t like. All illegal.
After JD Vance is booed, Kennedy Center head urges ‘diversity and inclusion’

I’d put it in the Schadenfreude thread, but the KC president’s remarks tamped down the freude
The latest ‘news’ email from Jim Banks, the new Senator from Indiana (Mike Braun is now governor):
I don’t know about you but I’m still thinking about President Trump’s speech to Congress last week. It was one of the best speeches I’ve ever heard and it gave working Americans a renewed hope in the American Dream.
I’m the son of a factory worker. I grew up in a trailer park and come from a distinctly working-class background. The same American Dream that I experienced is something worth protecting for future generations of Americans.
As Americans, we’re defined by limitless grit, robust freedom, an innovation spirit, and above all, a faith in God. President Trump has tapped into that identity and renewed the promise of the American Dream for all Americans—particularly working Hoosier families.
President Trump is renewing the hope of the American Dream from the ashes of an historic low point. Our nation has emerged stronger with a leader and an administration whose defining feature is their commitment to working families.
Already, President Trump has made good on a range of his promises. Through his speech last week, he highlighted many of these accomplishments.
First, and most directly, through the strategic use of tariffs, he’s removed the “kick me” sign from the backs of our workers, manufacturers, and producers. On Monday, President Trump announced that Honda will begin producing their Civic model in Indiana instead of Mexico thanks to the success of his tariff strategy. Once again, President Trump’s critics have been proven wrong. His tariffs are bringing jobs and dignity back to American workers. The Trump economy is prioritizing hardworking Hoosiers, not foreign interests.
Second, we’ve regained operational control over our southern border and halted an invasion that threatened our sovereignty and security. For the past four years, liberal elites lived sheltered away from the destruction caused by illegal immigration, while working Americans were left to deal with the consequences. In many communities around the country, their hospitals, police departments, and emergency services were struggling to deal with the influx of criminal aliens, leaving AMERICANS without care.
And lastly, America is once again respected—among both our partners and adversaries. The hard-earned tax dollars of the men and women who sustain this country’s workforce will no longer be shipped to fund the ambitions of globalist foreign leaders.
Taken together, all these wins culminate in a massive shift for the working class of this country. I’m proud to support President Trump’s vision for the working class as a member of the Senate.
Obviously, everything he says is 180º off. But this is what sells in red states. They really believe this is true.
P.S. Pet peeve: even Jimmy Carter used his formal name for official documents and proceedings. What is going on, that nicknames are now used by so many of our highest officials?
Gee, how surprising (not).
functioning under the belief that it is better to let the trump government go forward than to be blamed for stopping it - even for a while to get a better deal - these ten Democrats voted for the trump budget bill
-sigh-
10 Senate Democrats cave to let Trump keep burning down the government
Ugh.
Your avatar has rarely been so appropriate.
All the “people who voted - again - for face-eating leopards, whose faces had previously been gnawed on, surprised leopards came back for more” stories are what really get me. I just saw one about undocumented Mexican immigrants who were Trump supporters and who were shocked and unhappy about the deportation efforts. They had interviews with a couple guys who had come into the country illegally, one of whom had previously found a path to citizenship (and actually voted for Trump) and the other who was still undocumented (and just supported Trump), and it was really instructive about how Trump weaponizes grievances. They were upset about Venezuelan asylum seekers (and the support they received) and projected those grievances onto Trump and expectations about his policies, ignoring everything he’d ever said (and done) about Mexican immigrants.
I understand that Trump’s appeal is all about the politics of grievances, that people project their own desires and beliefs onto Trump, and that some people really liked his “I will punish your enemies” message, but it still blows my mind when the people Trump was explicitly calling out as those enemies to be punished still ended up voting for him.
He has a talent for convincing turkeys to vote for thanksgiving.
Rubio has just expelled the South African ambassador.
Not a diplomatic staffer or a couple of minor consuls or something: the ambassador.
Because he’s “racist”.
“Referees enforce the rules impartially to ensure a fair and level playing field”… and somehow a fair and level playing field can’t welcome everyone, apparently.
This report has an example of a call from someone believing that it is, but it’s basically just a transphobic rant.
Which is absurd enough, but it’s utterly flabbergasting when they’re shocked turkey is (still) on the menu…
Yeah, it’s petty, but sometimes that’s all you got.
