…take action to reinstate the pre-existing monuments, memorials, statues, markers, or similar properties…
…in Dept. of Interior’s jurisdiction, e.g. most or all of the parks in D.C. (though, for that example, I don’t recall which statues or monuments might’ve been removed). In contrast, I can think of several Confederate monuments that have come down since 2017 within wasn’t-actually-part-of-the-Confederacy* Maryland, and none of them were in DoI’s jurisdiction, so the Blond Bigot can go pound sand.
"Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney officially broke things off with the United States Thursday, marking a seismic shift in relations between the longtime allies.
‘The old relationship we had with the United States based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation is over,’ Carney said during a press conference, following a meeting in Ottawa with his ministers to ‘discuss trade options’ in response to Donald Trump’s ‘permanent’ 25 percent tariffs on all imported vehicles and auto parts.
‘What exactly the United States does next is unclear, but what is clear, what is clear is that we as Canadians have agency. We have power. We are masters in our own home,’ Carney said.
‘We can control our destiny. We can give ourselves much more than any foreign government, including the United States, can ever take away. We can deal with this crisis best by building our own strength right here at home.’
Carney warned that Canada, which is currently one of the top importers of U.S. goods, would need to reshape its economy to wean itself off its southern neighbor.
‘We will need to dramatically reduce our reliance on the United States. We will need to pivot our trade relationships elsewhere. And we will need to do things previously thought impossible at speeds we haven’t seen in generations,’ Carney said.

The McCarran-Walter Act was designed primarily to detain, deport and otherwise bar entry visas to communists. But while it did not mention Jews specifically, its practical function barred the immigration of many European Jews from entering the United States. Its author, Pat McCarran, a conservative Democrat from Nevada, was a dogged antisemite who likely intended the legislation to keep the United States safe not just from communists, but from Jews. In recent years, his racist and antisemitic record led some Democrats to call for removing a statue honoring him from the U.S. Capitol, and in 2021, the Las Vegas airport was renamed from McCarran International to Harry Reid International, in honor of the late Democratic senator who represented Nevada in Congress for decades.
All those years of cooperation carelessly thrown away for literally no reason at all, and it all could have been so, so easily avoided if the Republicans, Democrats or even just American voters had any integrity or spine whatsoever. Collectively, we’re too dumb to live, which is nightmarish for the individuals making up that collective.
“It might be more than 300 at this point. We do it every day. Every time I find one of these lunatics, I take away their visa,” Rubio said during a press conference in Guyana on Thursday.
“First Amendment, schmurst amendment. If they don’t toe our line, they must suffer the consequences. Our feelings are too fragile to tolerate disagreement!”
Anyone who thinks it will stop at immigrants is out of their minds.
