Most liberal economists in my country remained silent after the so called Liberation Day. I think the blow was too hard for them. But there are some who have gone on the purest and most delirious apology for Mr. Trump’s tariffs and economic policy.
One said that most industries will return to the United States and that the latest automation technologies, artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0 will create the best and highest-paying jobs this side of heaven has ever seen. Furthermore, for these people, the plan will be to completely destroy the Dollar, reducing the American currency to a pile of worthless paper, which will be immediately replaced by cryptocurrencies and the world will cry in despair, as they didn´t had the wisdom to embrace the future like the president of El Salvador did. This chaos will reduce interest rates in the United States, everyone will invest in American soil and the money that the evil foreigners will pay through tariffs will make it so that no American will ever pay taxes in their life.

The Hoopla library service is being taken down in certain areas reliant on federal funding to keep it operational. I imagine other services are going as well, but this is the first I’ve specifically heard about.

There doesn’t seem to be such a thing yet. I’m not certain if hoopla would choose to do that itself, but no one else could so quickly.

Among the points brought up, hoopla is quite expensive for libraries, some were dropping it before the current fiasco due to cost, and they have a lot of AI crap on there. It still strikes me as a quite regrettable loss, but I do understand the need to prioritize expenses.
