Not just threats either. The perceptions of threats. People keep quiet about real crimes committed against them and their family members because they fear the possibility of retribution all the time. Doesn’t make the news. People generally act like this doesn’t put any real pressure on people not to come forward too. People pay for blackmail all the time.
Now the law itself is under threat, like direct sustained assault in the form of a coup from the executive branch, and criminality is allowed so long as it targets political rivals.
The judges can’t hide from that as easily as they can from gang retaliation either.
Of course they are scared.

I am glad they are sending abroad domestic abusers, rapists, human traffickers and not welcoming them back!

The lead-in to that article is so bizarre. What’s “strange” about other countries dumping the dollar? It’s a perfectly rational thing to do if confidence in the U.S. is on the decline. And there’s every reason for the rest of the world to be losing confidence right now.
