US guest of honour and Fox News host Tucker Carlson was granted a lightning visit by military helicopter to Hungary’s 175km (109-mile) high-tech, high-cost razor-wire border fence with Serbia this week.
He liked what he saw. After praising the fence for being so “clean and orderly”, in contrast to the “chaos” on the US-Mexican border, he told his viewers: “It doesn’t require a GDP the size of the US, it doesn’t require high-tech walls, guns, or surveillance equipment. All it requires is the will to do it.”

A triumph of the will, as it were.

Interesting. I read your post after having clicked on the article, and wondered what you meant, so I went over to the computer and sure enough, it’s a members-only piece!

So, FWIW, maybe trying clicking on the link while on your phone instead?

I’m using an incognito window instead.

(after reading the first paragraph)…oh, it’s THAT old shit again. sigh

And no one seems to remember that their vaunted “Jesus” was a Jew.

I’ve reported and blocked the gentleperson asshole who posted that fascist rant, but that doesn’t change the fact that he, and people like him, honestly believe our country would be better off run like Nazi Germany-- or something even worse than that. And they’re no longer afraid to demand it openly.

This is dangerous.

This possibly the key quote:

Gingrich said the “radical left” wants to “get rid of the rest of us” and would “love to drown traditional, classic Americans with as many people as they can who know nothing of American history, nothing of American tradition, nothing of the rule of law.”

I consider Newt to be classic hemorrhoid.

Interestingly, Walt Disney felt the same way. But he wasn’t motivated to end democracy, he made Disneyland instead.

My favorite people are the ones who are so enraged by my tweets that they want to report me.

Yeah, well, if he doesn’t want to be reported, he shouldn’t be posting pro-fascist hate speech.

It’s not like Twitter’s likely to do anything about him, or the many other hateful folks I’ve reported. They don’t even bother to send updates on reports the way they used to. But it makes me feel a little better to make the gesture, and with a block in place, I won’t have to see any more of the vile nonsense he spews.

so i got that going for me which is nice murray

Most European-heritage Americans are from the immigration wave of the 1880’s-1910’s, not the original British colonists. The country was just one more nation in the world until it started to let in people who were not English/Irish/Welsh (with the occasional French). It was immigration, plus (as flawed as it continued to be) acknowledging the humanity and citizenship of the African Americans already here that enabled us to build up to becoming a world power.

So when they talk about going back to ‘our traditional history’, in addition to disrespecting every other part of the planet that has come together here, they’re not including most European-heritage citizens either.

The phrase “make America great again” tells you all you need to know about Republicans grasp on history.

I hate to drag down Bullwinkle, but…he in this clip represents what they remind me of. But there not so good-natured as he is. And Rocky speaks for the rest of us.

I mean, it doesn’t look like he should really be posting any opinions without feeling bad about them…
