There was a series of bad decisions in the '80s and '90s deregulating the mass media. The people who created the FCC and the âfairness doctrineâ and âbroadcasting in the public interestâ certainly, we can now see, knew what the fuck they were doing and why it was important, and then Reagan and Clinton deliberately trashed and dismantled all that important work. And here we are.
