I have to say that Tucker Carlson is a fucking idiot. The Roman Empire lasted 2,000 years, and a fair number of their best emperors were definitely not native Roman (starting with Septimius Severus, who was Punic).

Having had the best Roman History professor ever, his summary of the Roman Empire was dead wrong. They literally assimilated every single other nation around and were very food at making newly conquered people get incorporated into their system.
