I just had the most frightening and realistic dream. In it my daughter was younger, around 9. We were together and captured by one of my ex-husband’s friends and his young son, slightly older than my daughter. They trapped us in their home, then took us to one of these all Nazi towns. We couldn’t leave. I kept trying to escape, but they knew I wouldn’t leave without my daughter and she was not aware of the danger. They kept her distracted. It was so awful.
So, Stephen Miller is still in the White House and his job seems safe.

So… the USian president apparently wants to undo NATO. Does he really want a unified Europe, responsible for its own armament? That’s worked out so well the last couple of times. And nukes in the mix this time around for variety.

I think that what he wants is a slumber party with all the dictators who each go around the table telling him how he’s the smartest, with the best hair and the largest (ahem) hands. I think he’s under the impression that if he tries to take his ball and goes home, the rest of the world will run after him crying and saying “sir! sir!” and then they will give him anything he wants.
I doubt he has a firm grasp of what NATO does, has done, or what it stands for. He thinks its a line item on a budget, or an arm wrestling contest, not a bulwark against total world war.

The USian military spent much of its time while I was serving waiting for 20,000 Soviet tanks to come rolling through the Fulda Gap into western Europe.
So now my children will spend their time in EU service waiting for 20,000 Russian tanks to roll through the Fulda Gap into western Europe.

Famous author JK Rowling went full mask off Trans Exterminationist Reactionary Fascist today after an employment tribunal ruled that no you shithead, transphobia is not a protected belief.
Britain’s Conservative Party is notoriously riddled with TERFs and racists, who now have a legislative majority because this is hellworld.

If you’re wondering, the Maya mentioned in the tweet is Maya Forstater, a tax attorney who decided to deliberately be a shithead to trans folk. When her contract was not renewed, Ms Forstater appealed to an employment tribunal with the express intent of turning “gender critical” (aka anti-trans) beliefs into a protected category.
The judge rules that while it was a sincerely held belief, it is one incompatible with a Democratic society and therefore not protected.
Ms Forstater has raised £80K and plans to appeal all the way to the UK Supremes.
Dr Kathleen Stock decided that this case is the one hill for all anti-trans academics to die on and is currently trying to rally support for Ms Forstater.
