Great to hear! I’ve been worried about him ever since you listed him as MIA.
A cat story I saw on tumblr. A very big cat, with unusual dietary needs!
I managed to wrangle Boone into rubber balloon boots; the salt on Toronto streets is really punishing on their paws. He’s also fine with a winter coat. I’ve never had to put a winter coat on a dog before, but he was starting to shiver last week when it got down to about -10 C (14 F), and today it’s down to -16 C (3.2 F). This is his first full Canadian winter; he rolled into Ontario at the tail end of winter earlier this year.
ETA; another dog grabbed Boone’s full poop bag and played keep away with his owner and me. Fortunately, the bag was still intact when he finally got bored and dropped it.
i say the ensemble is rather fetching!
Har har! He doesn’t fetch, sadly. My previous dog, a Kelpie/Cattle Dog cross was obsessed with fetch. This one will chase a ball, but then run off without even picking it up.
Try mushers’ wax on the paws.
Dog tip — before putting his boots on, wrap his ankles in Coban or something similar. I’ve found this is helpful for all types of dog boots. It gives the boot something to hold onto, and prevents you from accidentally pulling his fur.
Thanks for the suggestion
I do have some around; I’ll give it a try. He seemed fine once they were on, and they stayed on; I thought they might come off while he romped around the park, but they stayed put.
I want a calico just like that.
Bitey Cat enjoying the 60F/15C Xmas afternoon while she gets a little supervised outdoor time away from the chaos kittens
Our red cat was like that famous little rabbit with alkaline batteries: He wouldn’t sit still for a minute, seemed to have endless energy and was always ready to play. But lately he’s been acting strangely. He no longer climbs the highest furniture, has been napping more than usual and in odd places and also has started to stand still, staring into space. Fortunately, he hasn’t lost his appetite and is using the toilet normally. We are still worried. We have already spoken to the vet and she will see us soon.
He took some painkillers and is sleeping. I hope he gets better soon. I’ve never seen a kitten like him, so full of energy and so attached to humans.
Kitties do grow up and become more sedentary, so maybe it’s just normal aging?
Yeah, I’ve got nothing with this one. Sitting and staring at something that isn’t there, yes. Our Paoli used to do that. Whenever we’d look over where she was looking and then back at her, she’d be staring at us as if to say, “Suckers!”
How old is he?
Hmmm… I don’t know. Two weeks Ago He was ok. Then, little by little, He started to change.
He is at about three years old. But we discovered He has some health issues. He has a kind of heart disease and chronic inflammation in his mouth, a severe case of gingivitis. We gave him anti-inflammatories last week. The doctor told us to stop the medication and give him some veterinary painkillers. He spent the afternoon very relaxed. But then, after the sunset, He was sitting there on a still in the kitchen, staring into space, like those people who have to take very strong psychotropic drugs.
Sounds like he could be a bit stoned from the painkillers. It’s a good thing you’re taking him to the doctor. I hope he bounces back (or bounces around) soon.
Thanks. Muito obrigado.
