The Pets Thread

He’s lovely with me, and with my dog Boone (they are best friends, and Boone seems to have a calming effect on many other dogs), so this turn into aggression with other dogs and people is very much a concern. The trainer has a list of 18 things that she says needs to happen if there is any hope for him. My neighbour is very diligent, but even with all the training in the world, like your Pocus, one wrong move could be tragic.

If he were a butler I’d call him Jowles.

We finally got another foster kitty!

Poor little guy was found soaking wet behind a dumpster this afternoon. The foster coordinator called me and now he’s here, safe, warm and comfy, until we get him up to weight to get spayed.
A real bright spot in a dreary day here in Maine!

It’s a little void!!! With a few silver sprinkles! :heart_eyes_cat: :heart_eyes_cat: :heart_eyes_cat:

About how old? He looks small. Keep a close eye on appetite/weight gain, especially if he develops respiratory symptoms. He’s looking like a lap baby already. You’re a good human.

They reckon he’s about 5 weeks old. 1.4 lbs, I think.
He’s eating canned food, exploring, playing, and the sweetest lap kitty. So cute. A dainty white chest patch and tiniest tip of tail.
I’m keeping an eye and an ear out for respiratory issues, for sure.
I will never cease to be amazed at how resilient these little creatures are!
It’s been a few hours now and he hasn’t had to use the litter box yet, but here’s hoping he will figure that out without too many messes!

We always showed the litter box to new cats and kittens. Didn’t put 'em in it, just set 'em down nearby.

The nose knows.

Looks like there’s an old soul in that tiny body.

We’ve had mixed experiences with the little kittens and litter boxes, but moments after I wrote that, he used it! Success!
And agreed about the old soul, cute little old man face.

If a kitten has a mom long enough, she’ll demonstrate digging to hide poop and that’s all it takes. So kittens who don’t get how to do that lost their mom immediately or very soon after.

I would’ve thought the same, but our experiences fostering have not shown that to be true. Even when we’ve had litters that the mom is here and nurturing them the entire time, sometimes some of the kittens just have a harder time figuring it out.
:woman_shrugging:

Just happy this little guy seems to have an aptitude.
A poop-titude?

Wait til you see the adorable white tail tip! I’ll get it in a pic one of these times.
Good thing I don’t have a lot of work meetings today. He’s a delightful distraction!

We could never foster kittens, we’d just adopt it in a second :stuck_out_tongue: you’re doing good work

Kiddo and I are the “foster auxiliary support team” for my neighbor, and yet somehow we have ended up with FOUR cats, three of which came from said neighbor who fosters. Just being “foster adjacent” is risky.

We rescued a young black and white kitten recently, i posted pictures maybe a month ago. It was hard giving him up but what at least made it easier was that it was incredibly shy/scared, and the other cats did not like him at all which made us feel very bad for him. Our roommate had a friend that adopted him and sounds like he’s living his best life with them and their cats.
