Thank you.
It is hard to give them up. Every time. What makes it work for us is that our local humane society and foster coordinator are simply phenomenal.
And our current travel schedules mean we couldn’t responsibly have our own “forever” pets right now, but I just can’t imagine a fulfilling life for us that doesn’t include having pets in some capacity.

We had plans to hit downtown Detroit for one of the protests tomorrow but Mrs. Feral threw up some roundworms last night so it’s off to the vet.

On the plus side we’ve trained/tricked her to get in her carrier all on her own.

When we brought her in we put a box with a small hole so she had a safe space to hide in, a couple weeks ago we removed the box and disguised her carrier. At first she didn’t fall for it but a couple days ago she started going in so we don’t have to stress her out forcing her in.

Once she’s worm free we’re letting her out of her room to roam the house and join the other 3.

I love my wife.

She’s on poop patrol gathering up and labeling poop bags from 4 cats for the vet tomorrow.

The Buck is hanging out with another rabbit, who has the same name, and is also a Chinchilla.

We’ve been calling them Big NNNN and Little NNNN. It’s funny that they both respond when anyone says their name.

(Edit: I posted the wrong breed, they’re both Chinchillas, but the buck is a Netherland dwarf.)

We put them in plastic bags, in a paper bag, and put in the refrigerator.

Once we forgot to take it to the vet. I think we threw it out soon after we got home.

First off, thank goodness for Care Credit.

We managed to get 200mg of gabapentin in her before her vet visit so she was very chill.

Doctor was able to give her a thorough exam, look at her teeth, draw blood, and we even chipped her just in case she gets out.

Gave her a worm treatment and got some worm killin’ stuff for the other 3 just to be sure.

We’re waiting for the poop test to come back but as long as that’s negative doctor says she’s good to go to join the general population

While she was loopy, she got a sponge bath.

I’m confused, why are there rabbits that are called chinchillas? At first I wondered if they were actual rabbit/chinchilla hybrids but apparently the two species have different numbers of chromosomes so that’s not possible.

They are called chinchillas because they were bred to have coats that resemble chinchillas’ coats in color and texture. The Buck (Little NNNN) is a Chinchilla Netherland Dwarf, while Big NNNN is a Chinchilla Dutch.

Their coats are among the softest, though IMO Rexes (the Doe was a mini rex) have the softest fur — it feels like velvet! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Mr. Feral the diabetic. He has some nerve damage to his back legs and they don’t always work like he wants.

He was staring at his spot that he hasn’t been on for weeks. He tried getting up there but he couldn’t quite make it.

Picked him up and put him up there, he seemed happy.

We bought a 3-step set of cat stairs for our 20 year old cat so she could get up on the bed. Worked out well.
