Two weeks ago I was out on a date with one of my partners. After we’d had dinner we walked around the stores and restaurants in the area a bit, mostly enjoying the weather and each other’s company, but also just to see what was around there. (The location is great mid-point for us, giving us more time together and less overall travel for each of us.)

We spotted a Lazy Dog restaurant and went over to investigate. It turned out to be a dog friendly restaurant, which got our attention. Neither of us have dogs of our own, but having dinner and enjoying other people’s dogs vicarious sounded like an excellent idea.

Last night we met up there and yes, it was exactly what we needed. The food was a little expensive but not too exorbitant for the taste and quality. The atmosphere was great, with friendly service, and best of all, lots of dogs to admire! We got to meet and pet a few of them (my cats were so jealous when I got home with some of the best ‘where the hell have you been and what have you been petting’ expressions from Agatha.)

I’m afraid I did not get pictures of the dogs, but it was still a great way to get that dog fix I needed. They get some dog time from their housemate’s dogs, so L wasn’t quite as dog deprived, but it was still beneficial for both of us.

Here in Austin i know of a place called The Yard Bar, which mostly consists of a large fenced open area for dogs to play and run around in while folks order drinks and socialize. I’ve wanted to check it out but i’ve been too shy to go :stuck_out_tongue:

Grab a friend and go! It sounds like a great way to get to watch other people’s dogs, especially for those of us that don’t have our own right now.

This is my cat bestie Blaze:

He is among the best living people I know. I first met him when he was a wee tiny orange puffball who jumped out of the tall grass beside the driveway to the barn where we used to keep our horses.

I said “Kitten!” and he bounded up fearless and meowing.

Behind him were half a dozen more kittens.

All hail Blaze, who led his people from the wilderness to the air-conditioned house! May he forever reign from the top of the bookcase!

Fantastic pictures! Such dramatic lighting. Blaze absolutely looks like he is prepared to lay down the law
