After my previous snake murder experience I am pleased to say that this one was relocated unharmed
The color is weird on the paper and I got close with a filter, lol but the color in the grass is pretty close

If anyone knows what kind of snake this is, I’d love to hear. I’m googling now but no luck so far
It’s possibly a rat snake, but I don’t know where you are so I don’t know what’s native to your area.
And if it is, you have nothing to fear from him.
I have settled on juvenile black rat snake, as my best guess about what the critter is. I hope it finds a better winter home than mine.
It did shake it’s little tail, rattler-like, but there was no rattle on it.
He was waving ‘hi’!
I figured it was trying to convince Ernie (the cat) that it was extra dangerous and fierce, a big bad snek, who ought to be left alone. When he shook his tail, Ernie jumped two feet in the air. If I hadn’t been jumpy myself, it would have been hilarious.
Had to say goodbye to Lyta today. Her condition went into a steep decline over the weekend. Our vet found she had a bunch of health problems in addition to lymphoma, and there was no way she could have been made comfortable.
oh noooooo. : (
my condolences, she looks so sweet in your photo. man, this is always so hard.
I’m so sorry.
No more pain for the sweet one. My condolences.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Endings are so hard, the last chance to do a kindness for a friend and relieve them of suffering, but that doesn’t make it easier.
My condolences.
Be at peace, little one.
@Franko, @RAvery, @Lucy_Gothro1, @CleverEmi, @howaboutthis, thank you for your kind messages. And @chgoliz, @LockeCJ, @noahdjango, @AndyHilmer, and @come_to_mumma, thank you for your support. All was very much appreciated.
The noobs in the house, adopted from my friend Angel:
meet Ghost, who is exploring everything and challenging Felix for dominance of the cat kingdom:
And sister Nyla, who is a bit shy (and hates boys) and just recently started moving more confidently through the house, after only two weeks:
Double luck - both your family and the cats lucked out!
I’ve been meaning to adopt a cat to keep Felix company, but circumstances dictated that it would be two cats.
They are really pretty cats. I love the silvery stripes on Ghost. And the blaze on Nyla is so nice.
Lucky pair!
