Yeah, I do must work on remembering to set and lock the orientation on my phone camera…

I’d forgotten the joys of multi-cat ownership. When the house gets a bit chilly, there’s a steady steam of kitties wanting onto my lap. Getting serious computer work done under such conditions is… difficult, at best.
Each cat is different: Felix either hops right up or tugs my clothes for a lift, Ghost just walks right up, plowing through the mess on my desk, and Nyla here stands beside me, hemming and hawing until finally deciding to hop up.
Every now and then, the lap must be closed for maintenance (leg stretching).

I miss having cats indoors.

We recently celebrated Sona’s 19th birthday! :birthday: Our only cat to ever make it to that age. Two of them missed it by a month or so.

We used to joke that she wanted to be an only cat, because she didn’t get along too well with the others. Well, she’s outlived them all. I guess she got a good birthday present.

Sounds just like our late beloved calico. She lived to be 20ish. We would always say it was spite and anger keeping her going. She loved me but did not play nicely with others - especially other cats.

When we adopted again, we made a special point to go for a bonded pair to make sure we had cats that liked each other.

She’s gorgeous! I love her markings. I agree a bonded pair is a good idea. Sona and Ally were littermates, but sort of grew apart as they got older. They’d be licking each other, then Sona would hiss and turn away.

my first cat was a tortie, and she was a pistol. she was the First Cat, and she knew it. she knew how to make sure she always held that status, and she lived to be 18 or 19, i think, too. our current two kitties are siblings. they’ve never been apart, and it’s quite a thing to live with cats that occasionally fight like cats, but more often than not cuddle together and clean each other’s ears.

Gorgeous lil Abby wishes you all a happy Hallowe’en!

Abby seen previously at post 1064 - Dec last year - stoically tolerating Ruby’s sizeable arse in her face

The silver lining to losing Lyta is that Sona, our 19 year old, is exploring the house. For years she’s been just staying in the TV room, sleeping and eating. Now that she’s alone she I guess she feels safe enough to get around a bit. And today she went upstairs all by herself (which she has done before but only when the vacuum cleaner was out). She joined me in the bedroom! I showed her old cat bed. She walked into it, turned around and walked out again. Just checking, I guess.

We’ll always miss Lyta, but this has taken some of the edge off.

She’s spending more time in the house now - which means a bath is in her future.

I got a nice pic of Manny Pearl today, just being his gorgeous unbothered self. Mister Blue Eyes.

Those are the most beautiful blue eyes I’ve ever seen on a cat. Wow.

He is really ridiculously good looking. Even more than zoolander, IMO, but I AM super biased.
