Yay! All my kitties over the years trained me well. :smiley_cat:

So my kitty cat Cosmo seems to have either vanished into the walls of the house like a ninja or my partner or roommate accidentally let him slip outside last night. Itā€™s pretty cold at 43F, heā€™s not an outside cat at all so him going missing is distressing. Been looking for him all morning with no luck. Made an account on Nextdoor and I also went to the microchip website and flagged him as missing :sob:

Oh no! I hope you find him soonā€¦ :sob:

Oh no! I hope heā€™s just found an unobtrusive spot inside and will magically reappear soon.

Iā€™ve looked everywhere, i canā€™t imagine where he could be hiding inside the house if he was in here. I walked the block in front and behind us and didnā€™t see him, and between the cold and the busy neighborhood iā€™m pretty worried about his safety. He doesnā€™t wear a collar so if someone found him they wouldnā€™t know where he lives, but heā€™s an inside only cat so i havenā€™t had a need to keep a collar on him. Thankfully he is chipped and that has my info and address. I donā€™t know, iā€™m feeling pretty overwhelmed right now.

If you can, print out and put up colour photos of him, or, if you have the time, take a photo around and knock on doors. One of mine got out years ago, and someone that I showed a photo to, found him later that day and came looking for me.

Also, immediately notify your local animal control/aspca in case heā€™s turned in, and regularly check their websites if they have one, for cats recently turned in.

And make a post for, and check Pet FBI;

This is my nightmare and why my indoor only cats wear tags that begin with the word LOST. Of course, I have the luxury of cats who will wear collars

I hope you find him soon

Have you had any luck finding him?

No but weā€™ve put up posters and i also posted on Nextdoor, and also flagged his chip as lost

This is Nimbusā€™s first Christmas. He loves to be up high.

We strapped bricks to the christmas tree. Itā€™ll stay naked for 24 hours and we wonā€™t hang up anything particularly delicate and emotionally important.

I decided weā€™d move the cat tree at the same time. Maybe a comfy high place right there would be more tempting? I forgot about how they all go wild when the tree is moved. Like itā€™s all new again! It seems to be working. Nimbus has only used the tree as cover to sneak up on the current occupant of the high perch.

Maybe decorate the tree with aluminum foil?

I would, except the stinker likes tin foil.
We already sprayed the hell out of it with some smelly no-bite stuff. Our old man who died last November had a distressing love of biting the wires for the LEDs. So there are multiple layers of that stinky bitter stuff on the bottom of the tree

Good luck; he may go to ground over night and come out tomorrow morning.

Try sprinkling some litter from his litter box outside your house; if heā€™s around, he may be attracted by his own scent. Itā€™s a bit icky, but all in the service of good.

We have two litter boxes so i just straight up put one of the boxes outside :stuck_out_tongue:

My folksā€™ Siamese cat used to eat tinsel. So they stopped using it. The cat also like to nibble on pine needles, so they got an artificial tree. The darn cat decided he liked to eat the fake needles too.

I think they got a tiny fake palm tree to decorate. (Well, it was Florida.)
And no tinsel.

Ah, yesā€¦ spicy hay.

Itā€™s why it looks like H. R. Giger was our interior designer.

Thatā€™s not Giger interior design.
This is Giger interior design.

We had a cat that would eat tinsel. Fortunately, it all came out in the wash, and the litter box had a festive air.

Your outlets need to look more like nipples for an authentic Giger-esque ambience.
