These people are so easily manipulated into stupid and counterproductive arguments by reporters it’s sad. She lept right into that. And the original question was bait in the first place when they asked it of Mamdani. So now there are sound bites than make both of them look worse for no useful or productive reason. Can’t stop the media from doing this. The politicians just have to get better.
Ro Khanna has a law degree from Yale.
Which may help explain his opinion here. Yale has a lot to answer for.
Robert Reich covers lessons Democrats should learn from Mamdani’s win, as well as the campaign moves made by the GOP and
that led to where we are now:
Also, I missed this one where Stacey Abrams and her guests discuss changes in messaging and messengers that Democrats should focus on to reach a broader audience:
Assuming we are able to stop shy of pure anarchy (assuming left’s tea party goes to the same extreme of right’s tea party), I’m good with that. We just need to stop around Star Trek’s Federation level.
This week a Republican congressman called for the denaturalization of a Democratic elected official, invoking a key mechanism through which the Holocaust was perpetrated.
In response, Democratic Party leaders have rushed to cable news to declare that the Republicans have a point about that guy.
So so fucking stupid because they then act like they can reach alienated republicans by denouncing candidates that run on the kinds of broadly popular platform issues that young voters want to hear about.
Meanwhile no matter what the Dems even actually try to do, alienated republicans hear that they are all radical leftists who want to give their cats sex change operations on taxpayer money and the soundbites of them denouncing each other as radical jihadist leftist foreign born aliens antifa nazis and all that fun unexamined racist sexist homophobic shit they throw at each other provides the “evidence.”
Over and fucking over again.
At this point we don’t even have a democracy to worry about anymore so we are looking at a dictator for life or a king with no recourse and these fuckers are out here acting like taxing Bill Gates and George Soros 2% more is Marxism while bankrupting 20% of the US population to make Bill Gates and George Soros .00000000000000001% richer is fiscal conservativism.
I don’t know how to live in a world this crazy.
Right?
I mean, I know making us feel that way is a strategy, but anyway I do fucking feel that way. Ugh!
(And of course, it’s not just crazy, it’s also frightening, cruel and downright murderous, in more ways every goddamn day.)
Will the party finally listen? Every time Robert Reich brings the receipts about past efforts to get Democrats to change direction, it makes me consider how frustrated he must be…
