I hit a login wall, so…
Good! They should be scared. Maybe they’ll start doing something!
ETA:
Illinois Representative Sean Casten was grilled by constituents during a town hall about standing up to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer – who joined Republicans in passing a temporary funding bill. One voter asked Casten if he was “prepared for violence” because “nice and civility doesn’t work.”
After facing questions and repeated disruptions from protestors, Casten told Axios a colleague called him crying.
“They hate us. They hate us,” the colleague told Casten.
Again…good! Maybe they’ll get the message.
I was either getting more asks for donations from the DNC or just noticed them more.
I unsubscribed and there was a box to say why. I wrote:
When you start fighting back I’ll give you more money. Stop capitulating
My phone has been blowing up with donation requests too.
Maybe they are trying to ride the small wave AOC, Walz, and Bernie are making? I sincerely hope they get some traction.
I might donate to one of them or a local. No money to the national party until they do something
People are MAD:
(That second cap comes from an account that limits views from non-logged-in people. I’m not sure what the ethics are of reposting such things yet, but I figure the least I can do is redact the account name to maintain privacy. )
I have big, Irish, issues with donating to anything called the No Surrender Fund.
It should probably also be noted, for those who aren’t aware, that Irish Republicans are not the same as US Republicans.
(I’m somewhat aware because I follow an Irish streamer who used to talk politics. I wouldn’t dream of considering myself fully educated on the subject, but I know that much. )
(Edit to add: I don’t know why “inactive defunct” is showing up in the onebox; it’s not in the article.)
Reminds me, almost randomly, of establishment Dems not actually wanting to establish abortion as a nationwide right, because it’s such a great fundraising issue.
Followup on Sarah McBride and accepting bigotry in the Democratic party:
I was reading over the weekend that the story may not be quite what was initially posted, but of course NOTUS wants me to sign up before I can read the article, so I can’t actually see if it was revised. (Neither 12ft.io nor Internet Archive are helping here.) Statements from others that I usually trust are saying that Representative McBride actually was admonishing the moderates who were accepting of sports bans and other garbage and not advocating for them. According to those sources, the wording of the article changed several times over the course of two days starting with presenting her statements as meaning one thing then gradually changing to the opposite.
Yes, of course I’d rather she be rejecting that casual bigotry, and I’m perfectly willing to believe that someone at NOTUS might slant the statements in a given direction, but I can’t verify the text. Does anyone know any more about this? (I’ll also acknowledge that it’s easy to expect the worse if only because I’m getting entirely too used to being betrayed.)
I’m looking over at google news to see if anything comes up - Them had the same headline as Notus, and LBGTQ nation had a similar headline, too… there was one enraging deadnaming headline… but yeah, I don’t know. You could always email her office for clarification?
Geez; wasn’t he supposed to be one of the new shining hopes for the future?
“The Press” has it’s own agenda, and as someone who has had my words taken out of context/truncated, it’s hard to say.
Please, Gov. Pritzker, annex St. Louis county. We want to be part of Illinois. We don’t deserve to be stuck with the shitty state government the rural counties foisted on us.
