🇺🇦 The War in Ukraine

And since nobody representing Ukraine is there, whatever the US and Russia come up with is them joining together against Ukraine. The US has effectively switched sides. so why the fuck isn’t anyone important saying that, including the corporate press? /rhetorical q

How do they think that’s going to work? The US and Russia will sign a “peace” treaty and Ukraine will be like “oh, okay”… WTF?

Yep.

Seeing all those people get together around the table only makes me think of von Stauffenberg.

Yeah. Ukraine has no obligation to agree to terms negotiated without them at the table.

I suspect this is really just Rubio sitting in for T****’s annual performance review.

“I hear that they’re upset about not having a seat, well, they’ve had a seat for three years and a long time before that. This could have been settled very easily,” he said.

“You should have never started it. You could have made a deal,” he later added.

He is Trump, in case you confused this with a Russian government statement.

Trump living in disinformation space - Zelensky
Zelensky says now that if anyone wants to replace him as leader right now, it won’t work as his approval rating is high.

The Ukrainian leader goes on to cite a survey, which he says suggests 58% of Ukrainian people have confidence in him as leader.

He also says Ukraine is seeing “a lot of disinformation” from Russia.

“With all due respect to President Donald Trump as a leader…he is living in this disinformation space,” he adds.

His comments come after Trump claimed Zelensky - who won a five-year term in 2019 - was “down at 4% approval rating”.

Trump takes swipe at Zelensky’s leadership
“Zelensky better move fast or he is not going to have a country left,” US President Donald Trump says in a post on Truth Social.

Labelling Zelensky “a dictator”, Trump writes: “I love Ukraine, but Zelensky has done a terrible job, his country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died.”

Trump says in the meantime, the US is “successfully negotiating an end to the war with Russia”.

Sounds like the Tramp. I wonder if it’s real. And if so, what’s with writing “TRUMP”?

Now TRUMP is bigger than Donald, perhaps…

The 1,200-kilometer ceasefire line would require 150,000–200,000 soldiers, who would also need to be rotated, meaning that in reality, three times that number of troops would be needed, according to Toveri.

“It would take over half a million soldiers. Can we find them in Europe? France, Britain, and Germany — the three largest— can’t even deploy a 20,000-man division. This is pretty challenging.”

That’s really, really outdated thinking. A small number of European troops spread out along the border and a lot of surveillance is more effective than creating a human wall. The troops monitoring the ceasefire are there as deterrents - kill one, and you’ve started a world war - not to actually fight back.

On Wednesday, Zelensky rejected US demands for a share of its rare earth minerals - a “deal” Trump said would reflect the amount of aid the US had provided to Ukraine during its war with Russia.

Waltz said the White House was “very frustrated” with Zelensky after he levelled “unacceptable” insults at US President Donald Trump earlier this week.
