The other problem with that exchange is highlighted
As Fred Rogers said “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
Unfortunately, bad news is the stuff that sells
I checked some of her other posts. Community notes on a LOT of them fron 2024. Partial list:
(I’m surprised that when she said she beat cancer the community didn’t correct that one.)
Easy for him to say (and apparently, do).
ASL doesn’t turn press conferences into “a farce.” It is a language, an entire language! Not just closed-captioning or a transcript. The interpreter is not just translating the words, but the tone and nuances.

Was just coming to post AV Club’s discussion of this story…
Just to have it here…
Same warning…

Also, for the Vulture link, I hit a paywall of some kind so… in case folks need it…
I’m part way through, god it’s fucking enraging…
Amanda Palmer does not look good in this, either. Fuck. I hate everything.
Wow. Must be great to be so incredibly ignorant of history. /S
I despise this woman
Brianna Wu is now at the level of stupid where I don’t understand how she’s still alive. Like by this point she should have chugged drain cleaner because you know the “please don’t drink” is just the trans agenda and they can’t tell her what to do.
Yeah, that was my take away too. She wasn’t the one actually committing the rapes, but she fucking knew about them. (And although it’s minor when compared to the assault, what the fuck is it about people getting rich and then just not paying people?!?)
Deleting my Gaiman audio now; will strongly consider deleting Palmer as well. At this point, I don’t want to hear another fucking word out of either of them.
Maybe a rhetorical q, but: they know the people they stiff can’t afford to sue.
And prior to that of course: money corrupts, so being rich turns most people into selfish assholes who think they never have enough money.
Brianna… shut the fuck up. Just shut your stupid ass mouth.
Yeah, I don’t know if it was her just selfishly covering her own ass or her not wanting to believe what was happening (because it was the father of her kid and her husband (though she was in the midst of the break up when the stuff with Scarlett happened))… Either way, it’s fucking inexcusable, especially as she’s someone who has made her own trauma around sex and assault a part of her art… I suspect that the divorce means she can’t talk about her role, either.
Also, the shit with scientology that Gaiman grew up with… WTF?
Yeah, and being as wealthy as Gaiman is means he’s been able to cover this shit up for a long time now, although his popularity helped cover it up, too.
I can believe that, at least to a certain point. Going by her quotes and the resulting song, she appears to have known quite a bit. I will grant that she may have believed it was consensual (or at least not wanted to believe that it wasn’t.)
He has my sympathy for going through that; that would fuck anyone up. This does not mean he is not responsible for his own actions.
Gaiman is twice damned in my eyes. He had and has the money, emotional support, and time to pursue psychiatric care. Yet he chose, over and over, not to.
Plenty of people have terrible childhood trauma and do not have the means to seek treatment. The victims he chose are very calculated. Incredibly vulnerable people. It also seems his behavior is escalating.
The parts involving his young son are extremely concerning. I hope someone in that child’s life has gotten him psychiatric care.
I hate this. I hate it when someone I thought was a decent person and whose art I admired turns out to be a monster. I hate that Palmer knew she was sending a vulnerable person into a dangerous situation and did it anyway. The fact she was never paid for her childcare labor just makes it worse.
Yeah, it’s not an excuse on her part though. She should have acted to protect these women, and she didn’t. She knew at least that he was cheating, even after they decided to close their marriage…
Yep… plenty of people grew up in abusive situations and manage not to abusive themselves.
Yep.
Me too. That poor kid.
In the Master podcast first woman interviewed says that Palmer told her she was the 14. woman to tell Palmer about this stuff…
