Are they time travelers? Isn’t pre-neolithic a time period? 
Also, you know who is really dangerous? Westerners traveling to places with people who have never met them before… at least that’s what studying history has taught me!
I suspect, like many other indigenous groups, they have a history of having met with outsiders, had a bad time as a result, and now refuse to let in outsiders, because usually that results in some kind of mass deaths or a massacre…
I hadn’t heard that used to describe them before either. I think it just means they have simple stone tools, but not the advanced ones.
Generally, Neolithic describes a settled stone age culture that lives mostly or partially by farming. Earlier hunter-gatherers are Paleolithic (old stone age). The transitional period is the Mesolithic, and maybe that’s what they mean by “pre-neolithic”, although I don’t know what evidence they have for that.
Either non-agricultural or non-pottery.
Although island societies, such as the Polynesians, sometimes find baskets and gourds more practical than pottery.
