Well, well, well. I wonder how this will play out, if at all.
I don’t know if there are any attempts by Mace to bring charges against the men she’s accused… I think she claimed the attorney Gen of SC has refused to bring charges? But the men are suing her, and she’s pretty much stuck to making the allegations in her capacity as a house member…
Whether she was a victim or not, she’s still a raging transphobic asshole and I hope she gets her ass handed to her in the next election, because she doesn’t seem to be doing the people’s business in all this, if she’s as focused on this as some have been saying.
However , none of the four men have been charged with any crimes. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said that they opened an investigation of Mace’s accusations way back in December of 2023, but 17 months later, they have not found enough evidence to charge anyone with anything. Mace claims no one has been charged because South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is a doing a coverup, but Wilson claims “our office has not received any reports or requests for assistance from any law enforcement or prosecution agencies regarding these matters.”
I’ve never seen it before - it’s like the opposite of what happens in science fiction, where an author is metaphorically discussing some contemporary issue, and people mistake it for a prediction about the future (and then see it as a failing of the work when it doesn’t happen). We’re in some sort of satire singularity where any sufficiently ridiculous bit of satire in indistinguishable from the future…
Yes, that’s what I was thinking of (but was too lazy/busy to look it up)… thank you!

Ugh yeah. For some reason Quillette especially got up my nose that way sometimes. I’m surprised Reason isn’t on that list.
We finally found something he’s knowledgeable about; incel etymology.
What did the Hapsburgs ever do to you?
If he knows so much about Greek, he should know that “dys” should not be pronounced the same as “dis.”
