Still snowing, but not the big heavy wet clumps anymore. As blizzards go, this was a baby:
We got a bit more to the north
I picked a great day to be sick. Shovelling that is not going to be fun
Yes, all the concrete, tall buildings, and massive lakefront make our local weather much less extreme than outside the city. Also, a lot less to shovel!
Dibs is probably in effect today.
Iâve encountered dibs in other places, but itâs one of those things nobody takes seriously quite like Chicago.
That and day drinking.
If you have that much white shit to shovel, youâd be day drinking as well.
At least it gives me a reason to be today
ok, not to rub it in â we got below freezing last night and the high is not much above it today â BUT most trees still have a few autumn leaves still on and the roses are still in bloom, and notice the fresh buds next to Cop Dog.
This is my favorite time of the year in the ATL! The leaves are so beautiful.
Lucky! Here, winter is coming, cold rain and the wind is constant rather than breezy.
On the plus side, the wind is blowing the right way so I only had to pedal maybe 10 strokes the whole way home!
Atlanta weather is wildly inconsistent when the seasons are changing.
riding in to work at 7:30 - 8am, it was right at freezing.
riding home at 3:30pm, it was 60°f.
had to bungie my parka to my rack.
My friend said the other day, âif you donât like GA weather, wait 3 days!â
Itâs hard to believe it was in the upper 30s earlier in the week.
Oh, itâll stay consistently hot and humid for 4 months of summer, and thereâll be an unbroken cold streak in the middle of winter, but true winter is so short here. itâs overshadowed by the screwy transitional weather on either side.
high tomorrow supposed to be 70°f, and in the 60s rest of the day. Fucking December 2nd.
Fall is the best. prolonged mild temps and any rain is a 15 min shower in late afternoon.
You sure that wonât get you fired?
In watching the actual video, I am concerned about the Christmas stockings dangling above lit candles, but they havenât caught on fire yet.
The VP stopped by and liked it and pretended to be all concerned about the bandwidth it was consumingâŚbut we both know internet traffic here is QOSâd to scavenger level. So, it wasnât a real threat.
Not exactly today. This is more like a recent view, for large values of recent.
I got together with my dad for a day trip on a steam train in early November. It was billed as a leaf-watching trip through scenic autumn terrain and weâve wanted to do this for a long time, and it finally came together. (This was in your part of the world @ChickieD , embarking in North Chattanooga and traveling south to Summerville, GA then returning.)
Plus, it was a double-header, two engines; how could we not?
This was us, early that Sunday morning on the outbound leg, about a mile and a half from the starting depot. Cold weather is of course perfect for steam operations because of the billowing visuals, and nature obliged. We were in the third car from the end, designated an âopen-window carâ (we chose that), but at that time of the morning opening windows didnât yet seem like a good idea. We were going pretty slow here; we didnât really pick up any speed until about halfway along the route, owing to track conditions.
Yes, this is the Missionary Ridge of Civil War fame. We also passed Chickamauga Battlefield Park, another famous Civil War place-name.
Nice.
Interesting. I should do this in reverse!
