That looks amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Did you get off the train at Summerville? Howard Finster’s house (paradise Gardens) is there, if you haven’t been.

That’s very interesting, I didn’t realize his place was there. We did get off, for about an hour I guess (enough time to turn the engines around and hook em back on at the other end), which gave us some time for sight-seeing around. Mostly just a chance to buy tourist food and tchotchkies, although it does have a nice (IMO) rustic small town feel. Thanks for mentioning Finster, I’ll keep him in mind for future trips.
I have a signed Finster print. Yup, I’m bragging! I was not financially above the poverty line at the time, but the opportunity arose and I grabbed it.
I, uh, have a copy of R. E. M. 's Reckoning…
Not trying to be a topper, but I have several friends who have personalized Finter prints, because they grew up with his grandson, Jon. I worked with him for several years back in the 90s…
I’m glad you got photos.
We had the exact same thing here in Southern Ontario today – sun with whiteout snow. It was so unworldly.
let’s adore and endure each other
that’s so key.
so much of our culture is centered around sequestering and separating from each other. doing that sometimes is healthy, but I don’t think this focus on all the time is healthy. having a home on a lot separated from all the neighbors, traveling in a motorized cage by yourself, the very infrastructure for the car keeping vast swaths of people, whole sections of town separated from others except by motorized on-ramp; this does not a citizenry make.
Spending the next few days in Toronto. This was the view from outside my hotel (sadly the view inside is far less interesting unless you want to see some of Rogers Centre HVAC):
For my first meal here, I opted for some of the local haute cuisine:
As much as I love my A&W (they have about the best widely-marketed root beer in the country, and some spectacular melt-in-your-mouth burgers), that is not where you go to get poutine.
Agreed, I’ve had far better.
Rock and roll, baby!!!
In Louisville, Kentucky for a work thing. Good view, good networking, important for my ability to support myself, but I’m looking forward to some peace and quiet at home. Tomorrow.
Good Bourbon
And plenty of it, courtesy of several open bars. Many laughs were shared, and many hangovers were nursed. The presentations on the last day were (thankfully) more subdued than the earlier ones, because senior management knows their people, and probably had hangovers of their own. Good folks to work with.
after a partial bloom, there were a few mornings where the temp spiked below freezing and there was talk of affecting the flowers. luckily the sakura did not get that news.
Oh, that’s lovely! Springtime in the ATL can be beautiful (and sneezy!).
a different tree hit full bloom today. I was trying to get a pic of the honey bees buzzing all around, but the closer I got, they avoided me, so all I got was Cop Dog.
