That isā¦ wut? Clown-candle-nightmare-fuel?
LOL - itās just a figurine, silly!
Where did you find it? The eyes look really weirdā¦ and I couldnāt tell if it was a candle or a porcelain figure at first! Could have been a salt or pepper shaker, too. I have a set of shakers that are elephants! Anyway, cute and kitschy!
In the basement, in a box of assorted junk.
It looksā¦ maybe from the 60s or 70s?
Probably the 1960s; itās hard to tell but I estimated it from looking up the year(s) that labels that read āMade in Taiwanā started appearing on items imported to the US. And thereās some disparities in the results I got from three different sites, so Iām going with the nearly-exact guess-timate of early-to-mid-maybe-late 1960s.
Hm! Interesting! Do you think there is any inherent value in that? Iām probably there are serious collectors of such items, at least.
Oh, Iāve already posted it on FB Marketplace. I still have a whole lotta bric-a-brac/knick-knacks, that sort of thing, that I havenāt posted yet. Iāve a whole vanity tray with nothing but representations of Siamese cats:
Those are uber-cuteā¦ especially the mug with the kitties coming out of it!
Those are separate from the mug, too. And the mug reads, āWisdom is better than richesā; my paternal grandmother gave it to me. Mom & I used to take tea together when I was a bit more than a tot.
Thatās a keeper, then, for sure!
Itās amazing how little things can accrue such emotional value for usā¦
Yeah, well, Iāve sold a lot of stuff thatās nice but I donāt need for money which I do need.
Itās amazing how sentimental value can be erased by a few bucks.
It sucks that you have to do that! You really shouldnāt have to make that kind of choice between your memories and the necessities of life.
I have photographs, though. And I have memories (so far, lol) stored in my organic hard-drive of when many items were obtained. So itās all good.
The shame is Iām not getting the price that some of the pieces Iāve sold are worth. And I try to be reasonable, but I still suspect some folks are re-selling my ājunkā for more than they paid for it.
That sucks, too! Youāre selling them through facebook mostly? Have you tried an online antiques market or something similar? Or E-bay? It might help to get a better price if you can get them appraised by someone?
I know, Iām just adding to the list of stuff you have to do! Sorry!
Itās okay.
I canāt afford to post on sites that take āa piece of the actionā, so to speak. I need all the dough I can get my hands on, lol.
And lots of stuff no one wants because they just donāt value things like fine china any more; how many actual families put out Great-Grandmaās china that came with her on the boat, smuggled in her bustle?
There wasnāt room for this trio on the tray, and Iād forgotten it was on the dining-room table, so of course I put them on the couch to take the photo, lol.
Is there a setting on your camera/phone that is sharpening the edges? If so try turning it off.
