I’ll be round there in 3 weeks, but I don’t see me swimming in Casco in October.
Oh, come on. Sebago has to be warmer than the ocean in October.
(or do you mean the Bay?)
I mean the bay, I’ll be coastal. Sebago sounds nice right now.
I went for a dip around 7-8 last night. It was great, so I’m hoping for a few more weeks of swim time. Where I’m staying is on an inlet almost two miles in from the ocean, and the water is always a lot warmer than at the beach.
I’ll be down near Phippsburgh, there are some great areas where the tide comes in as a backwater over warm rocks and warms up a touch. I’m not sure I’ve swum there in October, but in August there are some spots that get properly bath-y after a nice week and some slow currents. Makes sense that lasts in to September now, as I’ve watched the first frost retreat past my camping trip over these, jeez, 35 years I’ve been doing this trip for, this same weekend.
Oh you lucky – oooooh …
I realize this is a horrible thing for a beloved edutainer to say but schools are great when the kids are not there.
Also I think it’s good that I’m getting out since I totally forgot that today was a holiday.
Down a little path through the woods behind mom’s place is another place to swim. Still saltwater, but almost two miles up a creek. (and me with no paddle!)
I tested the waters today, and it was good. Hopefully a few more weeks before the water turns frigid!
I keep wanting to ask what color your toenails were before you went into the North Atlantic. (Teasingly.)
Awesome pictures. What a great area.
The water has been nice lately. There were a few times this summer when it felt so cold it was like getting the wind knocked out of you. I was in a few nights ago and just floated around watching the stars for an hour or so. Big belly, butt, and boobs make excellent flotation devices.
In all my years in this part of the world I’ve never gotten used to how fast the seasons turn. Especially from a Canadian POV where it’s ten months of cold weather and two months of rough sledding. It’s fairly nipply at night but got a sunburn just a week ago.
As for the place across from my apartment: It’s very common for the owners and operators of the restaurant and/or apartments in these buildings to live above them on the top floor. That’s why things look a bit penthousey. If you’re lucky they live on the ground floor and you can use the roof to hang out your laundry so they won’t smell like you hung them under the air conditioner during the summer.
I like the rainbow!
Will be 80+ for the next few days; no reason not to take advantage of it!
!Lots more dogs on the beach, but by the time I’m ready to take a picture they scatter.
heh, just getting caught by a wave.
That was Bjork waving hello.
The walk to work today. Usually September and October are gloriously mild with blue skies but it’s been pretty grey.
Holy effing blade runner.
I love those “trees”, and the whole complex there. Where else are you taking your friend?
