The “biological” thing is just so stupid. Every human starts as biologically female for the first 6-7 weeks. Then the SRY gene, if any, might kick in and change things, using hormones. OR, it doesn’t, but perhaps later in life the person starts taking those same hormones… causing them to become biologically male.
(Not that I think it’s okay to discriminate against trans folks who aren’t on HRT, either. But I’ve seen the “biological males shouldn’t participate in women’s sports” thing said about people who obviously had been on HRT for some time and whose bodies were, by any meaningful standard that could apply to sports, female.)

I’m still not convinced that’s true. They start out not biologically male, which has traditionally been considered female by people coming at things from a male perspective. But it’s not like they’ve actually developed any kind of female features either and presumably there’s some whole series of changes necessary to bring those in too, just like the males ones. I think it would probably be more accurate to say an embryo isn’t anything yet – it’s only a potential person.
I mean, what you’re saying definitely sounds good, that it’s the same change only later in life. But…then what about trans women? Do we say they changed and then went back? I wouldn’t.
A lot of the “there are two biological sexes” camp also try to define them in terms of gametes, in which case a person would definitely still be neither when they are born. But as I said on the subject before, these people don’t actually care about truth anyway, only power.

My real point is simply that the phrase “biological man” is just… frustratingly dumb.
I hope someone sues them for not having “Biological Intersex” restrooms.
Also if Zuckerberg ever visited, as an android he’d be disqualified from the Biological Men’s room.

That’s accurate, and in a society the views “male” as the default value and anything else as “female,” since, if course, not-male could only be female, it makes some sort of sense, i guess. But to assign a sex to a largely undifferentiated clump of cells ridiculous, especially given the myriad ways development can proceed from there regardless of the chromosomal complement. Best and most accurate description, IMHO, is that we start out intersex, with Müllerian and Wolfian systems in place and later one or the other may (or may not) regress. Once again, it is way complex, and any attempt to make it “simple and obvious” is flat wrong.

“Fugitive Trans Act” coming. When the underground railroad starts up, I want to be alerted. Our place is a safe spot. @womanhood_deferred, even though this was obviously coming, it is frightening as hell that it is actually here. You know other fascist-controlled states are teeing up similar laws. I hate it with a blazing passion.

There’s a part of my brain that says “Is this your first time on a government watch list?” Right now it’s just removing the provision that says homeland security can’t creep on people just due to their orientation or gender identity, but it’s still like going down a checklist, isn’t it?
